This was great! I was in a hurry, so I didn’t read through the recipe and melted the butter, added the oil and garlic. This infused the oil. Other than that, I made it as written. It was great for a loaf of Italian bread and everyone loved it.
Firstly, thanks for using Italian bread. I gave this a try and we both found it okay. But my mother made it in a totally unhealthy but delicious manner. which I duplicate from memory of 60 some years ago. Generous one inch slices dipped on both sides in a fring pan with melted butter and garlic powder, then toasted in the broiler (which in those days was at the bottom of the gas stove. )
Delicious- followed ingredients exactly. I did slice it lengthwise first and butter and bake in foil for 20 minutes. Then I sliced it and followed another reviewer and put the cheese on and put back in oven til cheese melted as I had 2 shifts of eaters. I kept the unsliced bread warm in foil til second group was ready to eat. I served it with spaghetti and meatballs. Either way is great.
I think it’s all about getting the best bread IMHO. I followed most of the directions. I didn’t use the added salt (my butter is salted) or pepper and I didn’t add mozzarella cheese, I sprinkled grated parmesan cheese instead. Wonderful.
This is THE one I’ve been searching for! I used the recipe for 5 leftover bakery buns. Mostly doubled all the ingredients listed & based on what I had, used a mild olive oil, both fresh & jarred minced garlic at 2:1 ratio & did use shredded mozzarella. The recipe is SO good I’ll use this it every time I make garlic bread, even without cheese. Thanks for sharing!
No, tasted better than the store bought brands! Thank you..
Made it several times. Just right.
If I could put 10 stars, I would. It was so amazing and it wasn’t greasy, which I really care about. It is so much better than that they sell at the store. ?? Also, it was really easy to make. While we waited for the bread to be done in the broiler, we took the ends of the loaf and dipped it in the small amount of spread that was left, and there is nothing in the bowl. NOTHING. It was good even without it being toasted, so you can put it on anything. Toast, sandwich’s, etc. it took 15 minutes and it was amazing with the tomato soup we had. I would and will make this again. 10 out of 10. Bravo. Amazing. Thank you to the creator of this recipe.
Bread was wonderful. I have already made it again.
I sliced the loaf in half lengthwise and baked the garlic bread in the oven (rather than broil it). It turned out delicious! I didn’t add the mozzarella either, as it was so good without it. I’m definitely making this again the next time we have Italian dinner night. It was so much better than the store bought, premade garlic bread.
I loved making this recipe, I first tried for myself and I made for the whole family it’s really easy and it’s soo mouth-watering. I loved it thank you
Quick and easy way to make garlic bread that will have people talking. Absolutely delicious!
This is a great and simple way to make delicious garlic bread. Served it for a family gathering and everyone was asking if I made it!
This was so yummy, I made it as written except did like others stated and buttered the full loaf and then broiled. It is definitely a keeper and way better than store bought garlic bread.
The flavor is really great! I was concerned about the amount of garlic that goes into the mixture. I was worried the flavor would be too strong but actually, it could stand for a little more garlic. The whole family enjoy this recipe and I will certainly make it again.
Easy and delicious!
Best garlic bread ever! I left out the salt and pepper but other than that made no changes. Will use this recipe from now on.
Excellent! The addition of olive oil really takes it over the top. We had this with Carol’s ziti casserole from the site and it was one of our favorite meals. Will use again and again!
Topped the toast with pecorino-romano grated cheese and broiled both sides to make the bottoms of the slices crunchy as well. Came out delicious! Will make it again!
This was great. Just the right amount of butter, garlic and other spices.
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!!! It was delicious!!!
