Stuffed Cheese Spirals

  4.4 – 10 reviews

Using pre-made dough and melted cheese, a quick appetizer. If there was some crispy bacon inside, it would still be delicious.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 25 mins
Servings: 8
Yield: 8 spirals

Ingredients

  1. cooking spray
  2. 1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
  3. 1 tablespoon melted butter, or to taste (Optional)
  4. ¼ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  5. 2 green onions, finely chopped
  6. 1 pinch garlic powder, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  2. Unroll crescent roll dough on the prepared baking sheet. Spread butter over dough and sprinkle with Cheddar cheese and green onion. Season with garlic powder.
  3. Roll dough back to its original shape. Cut dough with a sharp knife into 8 even slices. Arrange slices cut-side up on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 9 to 12 minutes.
  5. When slicing the dough, use a sharp knife and cut downward with one motion instead of sawing back and forth. This will keep the stuffed slices from coming apart. You may also have to reshape them a bit as the outside ring of dough likes to come apart. Just pinch it with your fingers and it will hold together nicely.

i liked these cheese spirals they were easy, tasty and the kiddo could easily help me put these together. i used a bit more cheese and warmed some bacon bits in a pan and added those too. the green onions came from my garden and added a nice light flavor as well, but next time i might use a touch of onion powder instead to really get a brighter onion flavor. they turned out pretty and i usually have all these ingredients on hand which makes an easy last minute app easy. ill make these again

My family loved these, I added in some bacon as well. Will make these again, great for a crowd!

I really loved these easy spirals. The crescent dough is a family favorite so adding a few other flavors makes a lot of sense. They were easy to make but next time I will put the roll back into the fridge before cutting so it’s a bit more firm. I love how you can take this basic idea and change up flavors. I would absolutely suggest using the garlic powder. And next time I’ll add bacon bits too.

These little spirals were pretty tasty! I’d like a little more cheese flavor next time I make them. the green onions were a nice addition. I agree with another review that these can be used as a side bread to any meal. They were fairly easy to make, though I did have a little trouble keeping them together as I rolled it. Therefore my pic isn’t as pretty as others, but the taste was there!

These were a crowd pleaser overall, my family and kids all liked them! For me they were a little rich, so that 1 was plenty. I think having something like a tomato / pizza dipping sauce on the side might cut the richness a bit. I will likely make them again though!

WOW! What a fantastic recipe!! This is great as a quick appetizer but would be a wonderful roll to serve alongside a meal. The flavor is reminiscent of a cheddar biscuit and this is far easier to make. I don’t feel this recipe can allow for substitutions and be as enjoyable. It’s light, flaky, buttery, cheesy, and the garlic and onion are a soft, smooth flavor addition to every bite. I made this recipe exactly as written. I used Sharp Cheddar cheese and fresh green onion. What might cause a dissatisfying outcome on this recipe would be substituting ingredients. An example of this would be skipping buttering or substituting mild cheese because it’s just what you have on hand. If that’s all you have and you still want to make this recipe, I would recommend adding a Parmesan or another cheese with stronger flavor along with your mild cheddar. I think butter substitutes might work fine in this recipe but I have not tried it so I cannot recommend. I look forward to serving this as a finger food to football games (Roll Tide!) and holiday gatherings. Quick and easy recipes that are cheap to make and this flavorful are hard to come by. Thank you so very much for this recipe, I will use it often!

I used the crescent sheet instead of the rolls. I added more cheese and also added bacon. Couldn’t even taste the green onion even though I added more than called for. It was ok but probably not an appetizer I will fix again.

These are very light rolls and easy to put together. I thought it lacked flavor even though I added more cheese than the recipe requested. It needed more jazz for us.

I really enjoyed these. I love garlic so I added more than called for. Aside from that, I made no other changes. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
