I love this sauce, I had been making it for years with ribs in the slow cooker. Chilli ketchup works excellent instead of actual chilli sauce. It’s easy and fast to make on a busy night or when you’re not so keen on cooking for hours after a long day. I highly recommend this and you will not be disappointed. Also, if I don’t have grape jelly, I use apricot jelly, or any fruit jelly I have around. Still excellent!

I made this, and it turned out so Hot (spicy) . I used Thailand chile sauce. I think it would be a 5 star if it didn’t burn my insides!!

Couldn’t get grape jelly. So used strawberry jelly instead. They came out fine. Used IKEA swedish meatballs instead of making my own. Also good.

I have to start by saying that I HATE sweet and sour sauce. However, my husband and three kids LOVE it. Seriously, they eat it with everything. So when I saw this recipe I figured I would give it a shot. I, myself, tried it and, of course, didn’t care for it. So technically this review is coming from my husband and boys and they absolutely ADORED it! They said it was the best sweet and sour sauce they had ever tried and definitely want me to make the dish again. I did make double the recipe and it was gone in a ridiculously short amount of time. They loved the sauce so much that they requested I make just the sauce for them to dip with other things. Whether or not I eat it, anything that can make my family this happy definitely calls for a five star review. Thanks so much for a simple amazing recipe. Btw, I used the Heinz chili sauce and great value versions of the lemon juice and grape jelly.

This was a hit at a potluck. I was hosting and a dozen people and made 3 dozen chicken on a sticks and 3 dozen of these meatballs ( sorry I used frozen). The chicken on the sticks were slow to go but the meatballs were out in no time. I used the 12 oz chili sauce, 6 oz of grape jelly and a couple of squirts of dijon mustard. so so good! i could have made 3 more dozens and they would have went.

Great Recipe. I used Kroger’s Chili Sauce to make my recipe. It was super quick to make and easy to prepare. I won’t admit it. But, I cheated. I used frozen meatballs. I would say that they have a different texture that homemade meatballs. So, next time I will make them from scratch. Also, I had some leftovers. so I put small amounts of them in ziplock sandwich bags. Then put in freezer bag. So I can reheat them (later) for snacks when the kids are hungry or after school.

I made these for Hockey Game night not only did the boys enjoy them they asked for the recipe 😀

I’ve made this twice….both times I used 93% lean ground turkey instead of beef. The second time I halved the onion amount which helped keep the meatballs together(also if you heat up the sauce in the slow cooker on high and then reduce it to low once you put the meatballs in, it hels keep them from falling apart). YUM YUM YUM!!!!….great served over egg fried quinoa 🙂

I cooked the meat balls first as others suggested and I was glad I did. I fried them in a pan but since they are round they were hard to cook evenly. Maybe next time I will cook them in the oven instead.

I love this recipe as you make your own meatballs. BUT I STRONGLY SUGGEST ALWAYS TO make your meatballs and brown them in a pan in stove before throwing them in the crock pot.

Easy and delicious

I thought the meatballs were dry and the sweet and sour flavor was awful. Maybe need to try a different brand of chili sauce but I think I’m going to steer clear of this one in the future.

Didn’t like these at all. Sauce was weird and meatballs were mushy and fell apart.
Heather Williams
Made this and it was awesome! Made my own meatballs. Basically the same as in this recipe, but added breadcrumbs and browned them before putting in the crock pot. Everyone loved them.
Amber Long
No flavor. I had to add seadoning. I also think the meatballs should have been browned before being placed in the slowcooker.

These were definitely a hit. I followed the recipe but found it a bit too spicy for my husband’s taste. In order to calm it down a bit I added a 20 oz can of pineapple chunks. It worked perfectly and all enjoyed the flavor. I would definitely make it again for the crowd

Tasted like ketchup covered meatballs. I did not like this recipe and could not figure out how to fix it. I wouldn’t recommend anybody making this.
