I was raised on this salad. flavored with fresh chopped oregano and extra virgin olive oil.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 10 mins
Servings: 25

Ingredients

  1. ¾ cup vegetable oil
  2. 1 ½ tablespoons salt-free seasoning blend (such as Mrs. Dash® Table Blend)
  3. 1 ½ tablespoons dried dill weed
  4. ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  5. 1 (1 ounce) package dry ranch dressing mix (such as Hidden Valley Ranch®)
  6. 17 ½ ounces crunchy cheese puffs (such as Cheetos®)
  7. 15 ounces savory snack mix with toasted cereal (such as Chex® Mix)
  8. 15 ounces mini pretzels
  9. 12 ounces oyster crackers

Instructions

  1. Whisk oil, seasoning blend, dill, and cayenne pepper together in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on medium (50%) power for 3 minutes. Whisk in ranch mix until blended.
  2. Place cheese puffs, savory snack mix, pretzels, and oyster crackers into a large container or paper bag. Pour oil mixture in, a little at a time, stirring to evenly distribute.
  3. You can use a lemon and herb seasoning instead of the salt-free seasoning blend if preferred.
  4. Heating the oil mixture in Step 1 enables it to better coat the snack mix.

Fun and delicious! I am sending it to the grandkids. It is so easy, that they can make it themselves.

Made as written and this was really good. I was afraid the cheetos would get soggy but they held up well. The one thing I didn’t care for was that the savory snack mix with toasted cereal (such as Chex® Mix) is already seasoned so they got a double dose. Next time I’ll toss them in at the end after the other stuff has absorbed the homemade seasoning. This is fairly expensive to make but it makes a ton!
