Total Time: 1 hr 25 mins
Servings: 16

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound ground beef
  2. 2 (1.25 ounce) packages mild taco seasoning mix (such as McCormick), divided
  3. 1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
  4. 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  5. 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
  6. 1 (16 ounce) package shredded lettuce
  7. 1 (8 ounce) jar salsa, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef; cook and stir until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease, then stir in one package of the taco seasoning mix. Let beef cool completely.
  2. While the beef is cooling, stir sour cream, cream cheese, and remaining taco seasoning mix together in a bowl until smooth. Spread over the bottom of a baking dish to cover.
  3. Sprinkle about 1/2 of the Cheddar over the sour cream. Layer with seasoned ground beef, lettuce, and remaining Cheddar. Spoon salsa over the dip. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

I made this for our Super Bowl party. It disappeared very quickly. I can’t eat beans so it was nice to find a recipe like this without beans. The fresh lettuce made it nice and fresh. I made it with low-fat everything so it wasn’t even bad for anyone. It’s absolutely modifiable but it is fine as is. Thanks!

Very simple recipe! I like the fact that it had meat in it. Many other recipes have beans and/or no meat I added sliced black olives to the top, as well as some fresh tomatoes, in addition to the salsa. Made it for New Years eve- it was a hit with both family and friends!

I love this recipe it’s light but filling too. I put in a few onions and added a Pico Delgado too

I really like this recipe! I used Pico Delgado instead of salsa but felt like it needed more cheese. Next time I’ll get a bigger bag of cheese.

I loved this recipe.. not overly complex and perfect for college students. I layered mine a little differently; Sour cream mixture, salsa, cheese, lettuce, meat, sour cream mixture, salsa and cheese. Looking forward to eating it for the rest of the week!

As written this recipe is good. I thought it needed some kick. I made it in individual dishes and made some with jalapeños and added some fresh onion. I left the original version for the kids seeing that it wasn’t spicy. I added some onion and lime to the meat when cooked too.
