Ingredients

  1. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  2. ½ teaspoon paprika
  3. ¼ cup milk
  4. 1 egg, beaten
  5. 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  6. 1 ½ (16 ounce) jars spicy dill pickle spears, drained and patted dry
  7. cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Combine flour and paprika in a bowl. Whisk milk and beaten egg together in a second bowl. Place panko in a third bowl.
  2. Heat an air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  3. Dredge one pickle spear in flour mixture; shake off excess. Dip into egg mixture to coat, then lift up so excess egg drips back into the bowl. Press into panko to thoroughly coat. Place breaded pickle, unstacked, onto a plate. Repeat to bread remaining pickles.
  4. Spray breaded pickles lightly with cooking spray, then place into the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the fryer.
  5. Cook in the preheated air fryer until panko is golden brown, about 14 minutes, turning halfway through.
  6. Nutrition data for this recipe includes the full amount of pickle juice. The actual amount consumed will vary.

I wasn’t a big fan of the original recipe, it was bland af, but using seasoning salt instead of paprika or adding some salt and pepper to the original recipe was pretty good

I was a little skeptical that this would turn out so good. I used teaspoon of season salt instead of the paprika. Otherwise I didn’t change anything else. They were delicious.

Great recipe we used our homemade spicy dill pickles and it came out awesome!

Yum! Will double the recipe next time!

These were very good, two things I would adjust. Give the panko crumbs a couple of spins in a food processor to make them a bit finer, they’ll coat the pickles better. And I added Cajun seasoning instead of paprika to the flour.

Love these. I usually tweak recipes, did nothing to tweak and these are awesome. Dip in ranch!

These turned out excellent! I made fried pickles in my air fryer using pickle slices when I first got it and was unimpressed. To get the brown you’d expect, it totally dried out the juice in the pickle sliced. Using pickle spears is genius! I made these exactly as written and they turned out perfect. They had just the right amount of crunch and juice you expect from a fried pickle but without the “fry”. I had a jar of regular spears opened in the fridge with only two spears left and decided to throw them in the mix. For all of you non spicy fans, they turned out great too and had plenty of flavor. This is 5 stars all the way. Thanks for sharing bd.weld!
