Air Fryer Shrimp

  4.6 – 6 reviews  • Shrimp

These flavorful, crispy air fryer shrimp only require an egg, fish fry spice, and a dash of oil! Use the fish fry breading mix of your choice. Serve with whatever you choose, such as cocktail sauce or a lemon-garlic aioli. You’re welcome to use ordinary cooking spray, but I like to use a Misto® sprayer with my own oil.

Ingredients

  1. 2 eggs
  2. ½ cup fish fry breading mix (such as Andy’s®)
  3. 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  4. cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Lightly beat eggs in a shallow dish. Pour breading mix into a separate shallow dish.
  3. Dip shrimp into egg, letting excess drip off. Toss shrimp in the fish fry breading and set on a plate. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Spray basket of the air fryer with cooking spray and place shrimp inside, making sure shrimp do not overlap. You may have to do two batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Mist shrimp with cooking spray.
  5. Cook for 3 minutes. Flip shrimp and mist again with cooking spray so there are no dry or powdery areas. Cook 2 to 3 minutes more. Repeat with remaining shrimp.

When cooking air fryer shrimp for 4, how do you keep 1-2-3 hot while you finish 4? I just haven’t figured out the timing!

Used Andy’s fish seasoning – one of our favorites- but I think I went too light on the cooking spray? Or too much breading? This IS quick and IS relatively easy and overall, we liked. Encountered a few “dry” shrimp and not a ton of flavor?? I could see being really good in po’boys. I really liked this concept so plan to keep this recipe and tweak to our personal preferences. Thanks France C!

i used Rockey Madson beer batter for fish. I would suggest dropping the temp down to 350. if you have smaller shrimp. Served them on a bed of rice. Very tasty and Easy .

The cook time was great and it was very simple to throw together last minute. I used our favorite fish mix and it seemed a little salty (whereas is isn’t as noticeable when used on catfish) to me but the BF didn’t notice as he downed one shrimp after another….so maybe I’ll look for a lower sodium mix vs the usual stuff for the shrimp. Thank you for helping with the air fryer recipes!
