ALRIGHT I watched the episode of sandras and saw this and thought it would be something me ( my picky self) my son (a VERY picky 2 yr old) and my husband ( a 6 ft 5 HUNGRY MAN) would like. I bought all the stuff and then got on here to print out the recipe to refer to and read the reviews…there were so many negative ones that my husband encouraged me not to make it..it was already 7pm and there was not enough time to make a back up if this one sucked! well….I picked out all of the extras that other fellow cooks threw in, the sour cream, the red pepper flake, the taco seasoning, the extra milk for moisture, the wait 15 minutes then add chips and cheese, and I added chopped onion and extra red orange yellow pepper. It smelled so good in the oven but I still made my husband take the first bite……..man……IT WAS SO SO SOOOOO GOOD.(SEE POST#2 by me

I have made this “recipe” on my own MANY times as my children have grown up… No need for the negative reviews for boxed mac & chz, nothing wrong with kicking up a convenience item… remember our mom’s tuna casserole?… same thing revisited!! & the ground turkey is great for saving fat & calories [& MUCH more appetizing than hot tuna… UGH!!] but the “veggies” she refers to [peppers & corn] are actually a fruit & a grain! the last thing we need is macaroni AND corn… instead of the double starch throw some actual veggies in… steamed broccoli, cauliflower or green beans or a bag of defrosted frozen peas! you can really use ANY leftover protien & veggie that are your family’s fave 🙂

This was quite tasty. I had leftover chicken taco filling (about a cup) so used that up. Also added a handful of mozza into the pasta mixture and the sour cream. I’d surely make this again.

People also need to lay off Sandra. Go to another page if you can’t appreciate what she’s about…fast and easy cooking.

People who complain about Sandra Lee or her recipes don’t understand the concept of her show. That’s fine, just change the channel for 30 minutes. This recipe works. It is a good base for a tasty quick meal when you are in a crunch. I appreciate the simplicity of all of her cooking. It doesn’t mean she isn’t a great cook. Just because macaroni isn’t made from scratch doesn’t mean it isn’t good. How many very successful Italian restaurants don’t make pasta daily for their patrons…Seriously.

thanks for making tasty food easy to prepare and time efficient. i love food but have little time to dream up something new, so the inclination is to eat fast food, expensive and not tremendously nutritious, or resort to something simple and quick, e.g. open can of beans, etc. or boil a potato with a hot dog or hamburger, etc,. really enjoy your show. thanks, george.

I gave this 1 star, because it wouldn’t let me give it 0 stars.
How is this on Food Network? I don’t come here to find out ways I can doctor up a box of grocery store mac & cheese. Sandra Lee is a disgrace and should be banned from television and the kitchen for life.
Rachel Baird
This was awful.Plain mac and cheese from the box by itself would be better.

One word sums it up…”gross.”

I read some of the above reviews and was a little skeptical but I have to say after some doctoring this was really good! I added the taco seasoning (like everyone else said it’s a must), when I was mixing everything in I added some crushed tortilla chips too and raw onion (to give it a little more crunch, it cooked a little while baking). I also added a little milk so it wouldn’t dry out, it was really good!! I omitted the pimentos and corn because I didn’t have any, and I did add a caribbean red pepper to add a little heat. I also took the other persons addition and cooked it for about 15 min. before adding the tortillas and cheese on top. Really good though, the husband loves it, definitly will cook this again!

I absolutly LOVE this recipe. I made it for my family once and ever since they ask me to make it all the time. Everyone loves it and its so easy to make!
