Level: Easy

Prep: 8 min
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 1/2 cups seedless (or seeded) watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes, rind discarded before measuring
  2. 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  3. 4 ounces tequila
  4. 2 ounces orange flavored liqueur
  5. 1 1/2 cups ice
  6. Lime wheel or watermelon wedge, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Put cut watermelon in a plastic bag and place in freezer for a minimum of 2 hours. (If time does not permit this step, add a few extra ice cubes when blending, the difference is not that significant.)
  2. Stuff all ingredients into a blender and puree until smooth. Garnish rim of glass with a lime wheel or a watermelon wedge and serve immediately.

I like this recipe but DO NOT ADD ICE..it dilutes the tequila…add a watermelon cube after you pour to keep it cold. I also added some agave to cut the acidity and puker from the line…otherwise kudos

My kids love this! If you make it without the alchohal then it is wonderful for the whole family!!!

Initially the taste was bitter and I was unsure if I’d really like it…but after a few sips, it really wasn’t bad. I think this is a good drink for ppl who are watching carbs.

These are pretty yummy!

Even tho I used sweet, fresh watermelon, these tasted like cucumbers. Maybe they would be better with frozen peaches or raspberries…

We served over the 4th for company. They loved it and so did we! The secret: really ripe, sweet watermelon, really good (aka expensive) tequila, and Grand Marnier. It was the smoothest margarita I’ve ever had. I plan to buy and freeze watermelon while it’s at the height of it’s season to keep on hand for future “need” of a great margarita! Thanks for the terrific recipe!!

…but found mine a tad bit tart. Nothing simple syrup couldn’t correct though. Simply add to taste.

Since I love Watermelon and I love Maragritas, this drink was perfect for after dinner.
