Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup crumbled Maytag or other blue cheese (about 3 ounces), divided
- 1/2 cup half and half
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, 1/4 cup blue cheese, half and half, sour cream, lemon juice, Worcestershire, and salt, until smooth. Gently stir in the remaining 1/4 cup blue cheese and season with pepper to taste. Use now or store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

This is a great, go-to Blue Cheese dressing, and it is the one I use. But I have this thing about adding just a couple of dashes of Liquid Smoke to it, and it brings it into a whole new world.
My rating is based on the recipe as is, which I found really lacking. I now tweak it, and like it much better. More blue cheese & the addition of some chives (or scallions) and a big clove of garlic help tremendously.
Delicious dressing…add more blue cheese! I use 5-6 ounces of blue cheese and sometimes extra lemon juice.
This recipe created a very light flavor dressing. Guess I have become trained to enjoy commercial brands.
Made it to the letter. Not very good, almost tasted like yogurt with blue cheese crumbles.
Fantastic! Fantastic! Fantastic! I’ve been wanting to mimic a certain packaged dressing several restaurants around my area use…and this is the perfect base to do it. Now to get a better blue cheese next time.

Best I’ve ever had. My husband and grandson agreed. I didn’t have half and half so I had to use milk. To even it out I used less milk and more sour cream. I cannot imagine EVER buying store bought again because this was so quick and easy to make and hands down the best I’ve ever had.
