Ingredients
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 8 ounces spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
- 1 tablespoon capers
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
- One 10-ounce jar tomato bruschetta topping
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- One 6- to 7-ounce jar Italian tuna in olive oil, drained and flaked
- 3 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to the package directions. Reserve 1 cup of the cooking water, then drain the spaghetti in a colander.
- While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the capers and garlic and cook, stirring, until the garlic is golden, about 1 minute. Add the bruschetta topping, red pepper flakes and a pinch of black pepper and cook, stirring, until hot, about 4 minutes.
- Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet along with the tuna, parsley and about 1/2 cup of the reserved cooking water. Add more cooking water to loosen if desired and serve.

What a wonderful recipe. A true pantry based dinner. I did find Bruschetta but also use canned tomatoes and Italian herbs. I love it and will make this forever
This has to be one of the best pasta dishes I have ever made. I am not a huge tuna fan, but my husband is, so I added the jarred tuna to my grocery pickup. So glad I did! So easy, and so full of flavor! Definitely keeping the ingredients on hand!
This is delicious and so easy! My husband said it was one of his favorite pasta dishes ever. I will definitely be making this again and again!
Delicious and easy! It’s a keeper!
I watch this show a few weeks ago. This is a quick and easy light Friday Night meal.
I was surprisingly out of spaghetti when I was setting out the ingredientes, so I used macaroni. I also added basil that was on the show/video but not on the ingredientes list. Delicious.
Really good!! Simple, easy and delicious!!
Absolutely OUTSTANDING! I added extra capers and roasted couple of lemons and then served them on the side–they added a GREAT lemony flavor. This dish, a green salad, and garlic bread are all I need for a quick and easy meal! Two thumbs up!
Watched Valerie make this dish and went out to buy the ingredients for dinner. It is really GOOD! Definitely a keeper. Easy and quick for a last minute dinner or a nice dinner party.
Incredibly quick to make, and tasty.
I made this recipe after watching Valerie Bertinelli prepare it on her show, and this was DELICIOUS! I couldn’t believe how good it was, and it was a delightful change from the everyday spaghetti. I made it exactly as the recipe called for, except for a tiny bit more capers because I love capers. Even my kids loved this, and they aren’t huge tuna fans.
I had never tried jarred tuna before, but it was fabulous. It will be a staple in my pantry, just as Valerie suggested. Thank you, Valerie – I love your shows!
