I combined two ingredients to come up with this dish. By including jalapenos or other peppers, you may make it as hot as you wish. When I first tried it on my coworkers, there was nothing left. After that, I cooked it for my family, who also enjoyed it. I guess I passed the “test” because my Hispanic coworkers appreciated it so much!

Yield: | 1 – 9×13 inch pan |
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 (10 ounce) jar raspberry preserves
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Cut in the shortening until the mixture is coarse and crumbly. Stir in the egg. I use my hands to mix it all together, it just seems easier. Press about half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Spread the raspberry preserves over the crust then sprinkle with the remaining crumb mixture.
- Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly toasted. Careful not to overcook. Cool in the pan on a wire rack. Then cut into squares, enjoy!

I just pulled these from the oven. They smell so good. I did use my homemade cherry jam. We are having them for Father’s Day supper. I thought they were easy to made. I will post how they tasted after supper tonight.
Very tasty, I really liked it. Not too sweet. I’m sensitive to small seeds, so I have to use raspberries sparingly, so when I do, I like it to be delicious, and these were. Thank you.
The bars were okay because I don’t really like fruit desserts like that. I liked the crumbly part of it, and they were really easy to make.
These weren’t the best tasting dessert in the world, but they were simply easy to make. They were a bit to sweet.
These are perfectly sweet! These bars are a little crumbly and crunchy at the same time. They looked like the picture showed.
For a person that isn’t very experienced at baking they are really easy to make. People said they tasted good but to me they didn’t look very good.
Great bars that were easy to make and even easier to give away. Even though they got a little burnt on the edges they still tasted great.
I made this is my Foods class. I don’t like strawberry jam or jam at all.. So I didn’t eat it.
I give the recipe 4 stars, it was good, but it was also kind of sweet. It was really crumbly and kind of made a mess. Maybe thats because we didn’t let it sit long enough. It tasted pretty good. They were very easy to make if you follow the recipe exact.
They were pretty easy to make, but I did not think they were that taste. I did like the way that you make them, it was pretty neat.
This recipe was very easy to make…It’s not that time consuming. The bars we’re not the best in my opinion because I don’t like raspberry jam which was in the bars.
These bars tasted alright and were sweet. The only thing wrong was that they were dry and crumbly because they’d fall apart and made me thirsty afterwards…
This bar was ok but it wasent the best bar I made. Even though it didn’t turn out good i had fun making it
I thought these were pretty good. If i could change something I would’ve left it in the oven a little longer to get the golden crispy color. But overall I thought this bar was very good and I would probably make it again.
These bars were pretty good. I loved how crumbly they were and I think it is the perfect amount of jam. I used strawberry jam, but I think that was the wrong choice.
It was fast and easy to make, but personally I didn’t like it. The taste was not good, and it was really crumbly.
My Foods class made it yesterday, but I was gone. I still got to taste it though, and it went down very smooth. I liked the crumbly, semi-crunchy texture it had. The only complaint I really have is how sweet it is. It tastes good at first, but the aftertaste really gets to me. All around good bars.
They were fairly easy to make, and didn’t take very long at all. The bars looked as thought they were very good, and they baked well, turning a golden brown on the top.
They tasted very well and were amazing, I just loved how they looked they look appetizing. I say I would enjoy making them at home and have more later on in life.
Very easy to make and ready in a decent amount of time. Good recipe for the beginner baker or the expert baker. Even though I’m not a big fan of jam, even I can’t deny of good they are!
I thought that they were really sweet and crumbly and they were a little hard around the edges, but they were delicious. I would make these bars again and again!
