Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup (4 ounces) VS or VSOP Cognac
  2. 1/2 cup (4 ounces) simple syrup
  3. 1/3 cup (3 ounces) freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
  4. 2 cups ice cubes
  5. 1 (750 ml) bottle good Champagne, chilled
  6. 4 long strips of lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Pour the Cognac, simple syrup, and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker and add the ice. Shake for at least 30 seconds (it’s longer than you think!). Refreshing and flavorful! Cheers!

Delicious cocktail! I don’t care for gin, so using cognac was a welcome change. I didn’t use as much simple syrup; I added only to taste. So easy and so yummy!

I have made this many times using dry gin. What brand of cognac did Ina use or would anyone suggest? Also, if anyone has had this drink made with cognac and also gin, please describe the difference.

I’m not really reviewing the drink but the show with Marcus is absolutely astounding! What a wonderful man! And what a wonderful journey he’s been on!

It is a fantastic beverage! So, I only wish Ina and Marcus had a half-full (or empty!) flute of the French 75 before the end of their interview in the barn. 🙂
