I’ve made this at least 2 dozen times and it’s absolutely delicious!!

This sounded so good. I made it exactly as directed and it really is just meh. Definitely needs more apples and something for the cake to not be so dry.

When making this cake it seemed very dry. Instead of adding more pie filling I added a 1/4 cup of apple butter and 2 tbsp of Captain Morgan. I also made it in a bundt pan so the brown sugar mixture was put in the middle. Then I microwaved some vanilla frosting to drizzle. It turned out moist and delicious!

Quick, easy and delicious exactly as written. Always gets tons of compliments!

This is a new favorite in our household. I added about 3 tbsp canola oil to the cake batter as it seemed a bit thick. I sprinkled raisins across the top before adding the layer of crumble. I also substituted pecans for walnuts as that’s what I had on hand. This cake is so good it was gone within 18 hours of prep. Thanks for sharing this!

This turned out great! I did cut up the apples and added a little salt and cinnamon to the cake mixture for flavor. My kids gobbled it up and demanded I make it again soon. It’s so easy that it will probably become a regular in our house. Thanks for the great recipe! I recommend serving warm with vanilla ice cream.

i have used Bisquick baking mix instead of the yellow cake mix and added 1/3 c vegetable oil and 2 T of vanilla. Makes a great substitution if you do not have a yellow cake mix in the house.

I used Spice cake mix, and added a peeled and diced apple that i tossed in cinnamon. I needed at least another tablespoon of butter as well for the topping. This was awesome! Everyone loved it!

It did not turn out like a fluffy cake. Rather heavy. Wonder what I missed. It was still good.

Made as per recipe except I did not have walnuts so used praline pecans. Delicious and loved by my guests !!! Will make it again !!

I added 4 eggs instead of 3 and 2 cans of pie filling. It was more like a coffee cake. Easy and delicious! I will definitely make this again.

My husband and I both loved this cake. My husband heated his piece of cake up and put ice cream on it, lol he said I herd pie so I like my pie warm, so I tried and it is good warm or cold. Can’t go wrong with this quick, easy, and delicious cake

I used a banana cake mix and pecans instead of walnuts. So yummy!

I love this cake! It’s so easy & yummy. Going exactly by the recipe it was too dry & not enough apples. To moisten it up evenly all the way through I used 2 cans of apples instead of 1. Chop the apples as they distribute much better. I also used 3 tablespoons of butter in the topping instead of 1. One of my go to recipes now.

I made this recipe as written. Used Duncan Hines yellow cake mix, 1 can of Country Style apple pie. I took someone’s advice and covered it with tin foil after taking out of the oven. Let it cool and then glazed it. It was VERY sweet and VERY moist! Everyone liked it!

This is a delicious, easy cake. I added some pumpkin pie spice to mine which was a great touch. However, I can say the next time I make it, I’ll skip the topping which added a bit too much sweetness for my taste. Still, it’s a solid recipe that will be one of my go-tos.

Use two cans of pie filling, if not adding raisins. I used one can and added raisins.
Todd Cabrera
Used 2 cans of apple pie mix and added extra cinnamon
Claire Rodriguez
Easy for me…and the family raved about it!

The taste is great, but what a disaster. I followed everyone’s hints and tips, though I did only use 1 can of apples and cut they up with a pastry blender, but it’s a big disappointment. Oh well, it could have been great. You have to try.

This cake was awesome! I did read the reviews and added 2 cans of the apples (the second can I rinsed before I added it) and did chop all the apples. I left out the walnuts (nut free work place) . Everyone loved it! Came out nice and moist! I will make again, will add the nuts next time!
