Ingredients

  1. 5 fresh mint leaves plus a few extra for garnish
  2. 1 1/4-ounces simple syrup, equal amounts of sugar and water, heated until the sugar dissolves
  3. 1/2 lime cut into quarters
  4. 1 1/2 ounces Bacardi rum
  5. Club soda, or seltzer
  6. Sugar cane stalks for garnish

Instructions

  1. In the bottom of a highball glass, muddle together 5 fresh mint leaves, 1 1/4-ounces of simple syrup, 1/2 lime, quartered. Add the Bacardi rum. Top with club soda or seltzer to fill. Garnish with mint leaves and a branch of sugar cane.
