This apple crisp made in the microwave is a delicious treat that comes together quickly. Although I don’t typically enjoy baking in the microwave, this recipe is excellent. The topping turns out to be wonderful all around and has a crispy top and a moist interior. Warm servings with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream are preferred.

Ingredients

  1. 4 large Granny Smith apples – peeled, cored and sliced
  2. ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  3. ¾ cup quick cooking oats
  4. ½ cup all-purpose flour
  5. ½ cup butter, melted
  6. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  7. ½ teaspoon allspice

Instructions

  1. Spread apples evenly in an 8-inch square glass baking dish. Mix together brown sugar, oats, flour, melted butter, cinnamon, and allspice in a medium bowl until well combined; sprinkle evenly over apples.
  2. Cook on high in the microwave until apples are easily pierced with a knife, 10 to 12 minutes.
  3. You can also bake the crisp in a deep-dish glass pie plate.

The apple crisp was okay. The apples need more flavor as other reviews have mentioned. I would add some cinnamon, sugar and water to the apples.

This was just like another reviewer stated, soften apples with an oatmeal topping. The apples needed to be tossed in cinnamon, butter and brown sugar for added flavor. The topping never crisped up and was chewy. It is not something I would make again.

This was good for a microwave dessert. I added some cinnamon and sugar and some water to the apples. The topping stayed separated from the apples and all hardened on top. I had to break it up a bit to serve it.

I love this recipe. I have my Gourmet Foods classes make this every year. It is great for our class because it cooks quickly. After they cook the crisp in the microwave, I have them put it in an oven at 450 degrees for about 3 minutes to crisp up the top!

I made the recipe exactly as shown. The taste, ease and simplicity is great. The reason for a 4 star is that the recipe should’ve called for the apples being tossed in a butter/brown sugar/cinnamon mixture. The apples were just- softened apples. They had no coating on it. The difference between the microwave and oven is that the microwave doesn’t combine the topping with the apples whereas the oven melts everything and allows it to bubble together to infuse moisture and flavor into the apples. Otherwise, this recipe is a keeper. It’s so easy and tasty!

I used 2 GS apples to make 1/2 recipe and put lemon on them to prevent browning. Sprinkled extra cinnamon on apples. I also added some dried cranberries and golden raisins. For the topping I used Earth Balance for the butter, and Truvia brown sugar blend. I microwaved for 10 minutes, since my oven runs hot. The apples were well cooked, but the topping was soggy, not crisp. The refrigerated leftovers were not as soggy, as the topping hardened in the fridge. I like that I didn’t have to heat up my apartment by using the gas oven. Tastes pretty good, but next time I’ll use regular brown sugar, more calories, but better flavor.

Delicious. Family loved it. Made it with Splenda blend brown sugar and I made an extra topping of butter and brown sugar to cover it and make the crisp not so dry.

Yes made it with a couple tweaks due to some comments! Was a hit with the fam! I used all dry goods and added a bit more, same with butter and I added vanilla and white sugar to the melted butter, also added honey and pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon. 12 minutes later bam there she was. Beautiful.

Delicious! I had gotten this recipe from a friend many hears ago but without instructions. Halved the recipe, used the apples I had (Honey crisp) and halved the cooking time…still delicious!!

I wanted a recipe I could make in a cup. I cut the servings to two servings. Unfortunately I did not adjust the cooking time enough. At 5 min it was burnt. I made it again and only cooked it for 2 min 30 sec. It came out ok. I will make it again, but I will keep tweaking the recipe and time until I get exactly what I want.

My family liked this! I used 6 apples, and that was the right amount, and there was ample topping. I used a 9 inch round glass pie dish. It was overcooked at 10 minutes. The apples were mush. I will try 8 minutes next time. Thanks for the recipe!

This was great! I doubled the oatmeal topping ingredients since I cooked it in a larger dish. I also found finishing it off in the over was a great way to crisp the top!

I will definetly make it again, easy & quick. I used Honey Crisp apples, cinnamon only, no Allspice and I added walnuts. Served with vanilla ice cream and whip topping.
