Air Fried Maple Chicken Thighs

Even though I enjoy a nice fajita, I’ve never been happy at most of the restaurants I’ve tried. I have a basic recipe that you can use as a base and it is great in and of itself. Attempt it out! A decent fajita must have beef. Together with all the additional toppings you put inside the tortilla, it must melt in your mouth. With warm tortillas, fresh guacamole, garden salsa, and fresh cilantro, serve fajitas.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup buttermilk
  2. ½ cup maple syrup
  3. 1 egg
  4. 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  5. 4 skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs
  6. ½ cup all-purpose flour
  7. ¼ cup tapioca flour
  8. 1 tablespoon salt
  9. 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  10. ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  11. 1 teaspoon granulated onion
  12. ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  13. ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  14. ½ teaspoon granulated garlic
  15. ½ teaspoon honey powder (such as Savory Spice®)

Instructions

  1. Combine buttermilk, maple syrup, egg, and 1 teaspoon granulated garlic in a resealable bag. Add chicken thighs and marinate for at least 1 hour or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Combine flour, tapioca flour, salt, sweet paprika, smoked paprika, granulated onion, pepper, cayenne pepper, 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic, and honey powder in a shallow bowl.
  3. Preheat an air fryer to 380 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  4. Drain and discard marinade from chicken thighs. Dredge chicken through flour mixture and shake off excess. Place chicken skin-side down in the preheated air fryer and cook for 12 minutes. Turn thighs and fry an additional 13 minutes.
