Greek Yogurt Oatmeal

  4.3 – 7 reviews  • Oatmeal Recipes

A terrific way to start the day is with oatmeal! Since I usually always eat it in the morning, I occasionally switch up the toppings and ingredients to keep it interesting. It’s always wholesome and tasty! Greek yogurt enhances the flavor of heated oats, adds protein, and most importantly, transforms an ordinary dish of oatmeal into something extraordinary. If desired, add a little more cinnamon.

Yield: 1 big bowl

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup rolled oats
  2. ½ banana, sliced
  3. ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (Optional)
  4. 1 pinch salt
  5. 1 cup water
  6. ¼ cup Greek yogurt
  7. 2 tablespoons strawberry jam
  8. 1 tablespoon peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Combine oats, banana, cinnamon, and salt in a microwave-safe bowl; add water and stir. Cook in microwave until water is absorbed, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir to evenly distribute cinnamon; let stand until slightly cooled, about 3 minutes.
  2. Spoon Greek yogurt, strawberry jam, and peanut butter over oatmeal; stir.
  3. I always cook my oats in water, but you can cook them with milk if you prefer.
  4. I sometimes use agave nectar to sweeten my oats, so anything goes. Or omit it altogether if you prefer it less sweet.
  5. I use Fage 0% Greek yogurt and all-natural peanut butter.

Wow this was good and filling. I used raisins instead of banana. Going to try some maple syrup to sweeten it a little next time, but really not needed

I normally would have passed this by as I’m not an oatmeal fan. However, it was very tasty! I swapped the strawberry jam for fresh raspberries as that is what I had.

I omitted the peanut butter. Maybe it was the greek yogurt I used but it wasn’t my favorite. I will try different yogurt next time.

I made this for breakfast and thought that it tasted pretty good. I used Blackberry jelly instead of the strawberry because I had it on hand. Lots of protein in this meal.

a little too much like peanut butter and jelly oatmeal for my taste

Wow this came out alot better than I thought it would. I thought it would come but out mushy and soupy but it didn’t. My CORRECTIONS for this recipe; 1/4 cup raisins instead of 1/2 banana, 3/4 cup water instead of 1 cup, and 1.5 tbsp of blueberry jam.

Wow, I was hesitant to make this. It seemed like too many ingredients for my usual boring oatmeal but it was delicious! I didn’t have bananas so I used blueberries. No strawberry jelly so I used a bit of grape (strawberry would have been better). I also added a bit of local honey. Great way to start the day with a healthy, easy recipe! Thank you for sharing it.
