An alternative to a snack mix is this recipe for Chex Mix. Our school’s soccer squad has requested this so frequently that it has now been designated as the official soccer snack mix. Since it is our favorite portion, I occasionally add a few extra bagel chips after the mixture has finished cooking.

This is the recipe I have been using lately. However, I now use a whole stick of butter and about 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil and heavy on all spices, makes a big difference.
This is a really good mix.
I have a relative who views snack mix as a food group. I always take it for Christmas because he loves it so. This year, I made this recipe and tossed in a couple of cups of Cheerios and increased the butter to 8 teaspoons. It got rave reviews, especially with the addition of Gold Fish.
I’ve made this recipe for a few years now. I have come to like a more bolder taste so I double the spices and triple the worcestershire sauce. Sometimes I choose a more bolder flavor of goldfish crackers as well. Yummy!
This is a great recipe! Make a ton and vacuum seal them in single portion sizes.
Our family’s twist on this – so good! 2 c corn, 2 c rice, 1.5 c wheat, 2 c Cheerios, 1.5 c PGoldfish, 1 c bagel chips, 2 c pretzels, 1 cup mixed nuts/Corn Nuts
I added mixed nuts also…very good …gave as gift to our friend…he loved it!
Needs more flavor. I might try adding double the amount of seasoning next time I make it. Really liked the snack/nut combination !
I have tried a lot of “Chex Mix” recipes and this is definitely the best. You can change up ingredients as you want to depending on your crowd. I like to make up the mix and then add honey peanuts and cinnamon almonds so that we have some sweet in the savory. Put it in after you season the rest. A lot of the other mixes I’ve tried are way too salty or overpowering in their flavoring. You get pretty sick of the salt in those and they take over all of your other foods. This has a great taste and my only complaint is that I cant stop eating it once I start. Perfect tailgate or man cave snack!
The flavor tastes like I remember the original from the 50’s tasting.
I made as is, no changes made to the recipe, and it was delicious! Everyone at work and home loved it. I will be making this again!
Six minutes in the microwave works well too. Stir three times.
It was reminiscent of the good old chex mix from my past. I doubled the seasoning because I like a bold taste, decreasing the salt a bit so as not to be too heavily salted. Got rave reviews!
Delicious! I added cheerios and used 8 tablespoons of butter. Will make again.
We never tried anything but original Chex Mix. This was a new twist for us. We did put a 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds into it. OH my goodness everyone just LOVES this.
No garlic bagel chips in my market so added cheetos. Very good.
This is a great base recipe. Mix 13c of your favorite cereals, crackers, pretzels, and nuts then drizzle the melted butter (with sauce and spices mixed into it) over the mixture. Put in pan and cook as directed. I love that I can make a low sodium Chex mix.
Delicious and I always have some on hand to munch. So much better than store bought.
It’s great with Life or Cracklin’ Oat Bran cereal too….adds a bit of sweetness.
This is one of my DH’s favorite munchies. First time I’ve made it adding the goldfish crackers. The mixture has great flavor without any one item overshadowing the other. I used extra large dry roasted peanuts as that is what I had on hand. A fantastic recipe, that is sure to be made again. Thanks Christie407, for sharing your version!
