Very plain. I sautéed the onions in the butter and added the flour, milk, cheese mayonnaise and eggs as directed. Waste of time.
I fried up some bacon, shredded it and added it. Then I used the bacon grease to complete the margarine in the white sauce mix. very decadent but amazing
The original recipe is supposed to serve 10. When I finished mixing everything using just what the recipe called for I realized it might feed just two. I added three extra eggs, some diced bacon and a can of chicken breast and more cheese. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet but it looks and smells really good.
Loved it! Gonna make it again today!
My husband and son just love this and will be making it tonight as side dish grilling chicken with bake potatoes and salad yum
I changed the serving size to 3 and it just yielded a tiny portion. If I decide to give this dish another try I would follow it the way it is. I don’t like how much mayonnaise is in this dish, I’d probably add less.
Love this dish and have made it several times. I add different seasonings every time and usually use onion powder instead of actual onions. So far mince garlic and basil has been my favorite mix. This is one i will continue to make.
We made this and followed the directions but also some of the suggestions to add more onion, garlic, extra cheese etc but still found that it was VERY bland. I considered ways of making this recipe more flavorful but have just decided to search for a new recipe base for our next time.
A little bland. Needs more salt and pepper and a little too much mayo for my taste. But would make again with these adjustments.
My son, who usually doesn’t like casseroles, loved it! It tasted fresh. I would add a bit more salt.
I did it! I had yet to open the oven and see it but had told a friend of mine “Wheewboy, never again!”…. but it’s beautiful and aromatic and I can hardly wait for it cool off and dig in!
We did not care for this. Husband is not a big fan of vegetables to begin with and this was no exception. I made as directed except I didn’t need 10 servings so I reduced the recipe to 4 servings and I used fresh steamed broccoli. It was very pretty but was very bland and mushy. I am sure I could tweek this with spices but I won’t and will not make this again. Sorry just didn’t work for us.
Absolutely delicious! I sautéed the onions plus 1 Tbsp minced garlic with the butter before adding the flour and milk to make the roux. Otherwise, I didn’t change it and wouldn’t! It says ten servings, which may be correct if you’re serving it as a side dish. As a meal, this made only 4-6 servings. I used a 4 quart casserole dish and it didn’t even fill it halfway.
I don’t like broccoli and I couldn’t stop eating this!!! Delicious!
My family includes 2 Vegetarians and I wanted something that they could enjoy with Thanksgiving dinner. But the leftover was enjoyed by all for Breakfast the next morning! This will be a traditional dish for the Holidays for sure! It was delicious and the only difference was I used a grated 4 cheese blend instead of only cheddar.
Added minced garlic. Terrific!
Family loved it! Instead of “3 tablespoons chopped onion” I put in an entire dices sauteed onion (we love onion).
I LOVED this recipe and so did everyone I served it too!
I used Harvarti Creamy cheese and added a few chopped garlics and caramelized it with onions when I heated up the butter. I added chopped ham. This came out OUTSTANDING! Soooo good!
I love this recipe! Doubled it for company. Added s & p and some fresh garlic. Major yum and well liked. Printed out the recipe for guests
Very good! Kid approved, too!
