Sometimes I have this for breakfast. With a cup of coffee, it pairs wonderfully. A toaster oven is all you require.

Reviews
All this recipe needs is a little savory. I know, I know; rate a recipe as written. And I try to mostly adhere to that! But add a little bacon (I used pre-cooked for convenience) and this recipe is a winner! Even with the “extra” sugar! Crisps up in baking! And a sharp cheddar. Mmm – delicious! Sometimes- recipes are a guide. And (now!) I’m an experienced cook that wouldn’t have ever thought to pair Hawaiian buns/bread as a “grilled cheese” option! Simple, fun and good! Thank you! And I can see why this would be good with morning coffee! Thank you!
I’m basing my review on this recipe as written. Hawaiian bread is already sweet. The sugar just adds to the sweetness which results in sweet cheese. I made half with the sugar and half without. Without the sugar this is easily a 4 star recipe. I served these on half rolls topped with the cheese. I will make these again without the sugar.
