I don’t like mornings, so if I want anything other than a cup of coffee before leaving the house, I have to prepare it the night before. I began preparing this delicious Mason Jar Oatmeal because I was addicted to the overpriced oatmeal at Starbucks®.

Ingredients

  1. 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  2. 1 cup water
  3. cooking spray
  4. 1 large egg
  5. 3 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Mix water and yeast together in a large bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray.
  3. Stir in egg. Add flour slowly until a dough forms. Roll dough onto a floured surface and knead until round and elastic. Cut dough into 12 pieces and place on the prepared cookie sheet. Cover with aluminum foil and let rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 8 to 12 minutes.

Awful, I should have known better, I’ve baked for a long time and making rolls with no milk, sugar or salt didn’t make sense but I tried it anyway. no one in the house would eat them

I love it, these rolls are light and fluffy with a nice complementation of salt and yeast.

I was puzzled by the lack of salt in this recipe then realized it was left out to “control” the yeast. They bake up nice and fluffy but they taste flat due to the lack of salt and I am very salt sensitive. I highly recommend that you do not let them rest covered with foil, the foil stuck to the buns.
