Blazing Garlic Wing Sauce

You only need one bite of this hot, garlicky wing sauce to get addicted! They are hot, so use caution!

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup hot pepper sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot®)
  2. ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  3. 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  4. 1 teaspoon white sugar
  5. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  6. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  7. ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  8. ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  9. 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  10. 2 teaspoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Combine hot sauce, oil, garlic, sugar, garlic powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and Worcestershire sauce in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until sauce is smooth and slightly thickened, 5 to 10 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat.
  2. Stir cornstarch and water together in a bowl until smooth; whisk into sauce until thickened.

One thing that I didn’t care for in this recipe was that the oil never incorporates itself into the sauce as butter does. I ended up spooning off the oil that was layered/separated on the top. After I took the photo, I put the sauce into my mini blender (more dirty dishes) because we didn’t care for the minced garlic (maybe just our personal preference for a “smooth” sauce). Finally, the cornstarch-water addition at the end just didn’t make sense to me because the sauce already was plenty thick…I didn’t add it. The spiciness level was spot on, and the taste was OK, but I doubt I’ll be using this again for chicken wings.
