Our pulled pork was always served with barbecue slaw or red slaw when I was growing up in the foothills of North Carolina and eating Eastern North Carolina BBQ. The marinated cabbage elevates barbecue thanks to its spiciness and crunchy texture. With chicken or pork, serve.

I Loved it. It’s moist and light without being soggy. Very versatile, any fruit any Jello. Thanks
My mother-in-law used to make this cake. It was/is my husband’s favorite. She passed before I could get the recipe so I had to search for it. So glad I found it!! The only thing she did different, is she added a layer of vanilla pudding on top before the Cool Whip. First time I made this, I didn’t do that and we couldn’t figure out what was missing. Finally my husband figured it out!! I use a chopstick now to poke the holes because a fork or toothpick just doesn’t cut it. Chopstick works quite well. What’s pictured here was made with a funfetti cake mix as that’s what my daughter wanted. Yup… the kids love it too!! Kids…. they’re in their 30’s ha ha ha!!!
Easy and YUMMY!
You know, for what this is, it’s tasty. Reminded me of a little Debbie jelly roll. I thought it was a bit sweet but then again it’s a dessert. With two hungry teens and a hubby with a sweet tooth I won’t get another piece tomorrow and I am ok with that. Raspberry/blackberry jello from the depths of my pantry, cherry pie filling and cool whip – yum. Thanks for the simple ingredients, really quick to put this together.
This one has been in our family for a while. We always use yellow cake mix with strawberry jello and just whipped cream with strawberries on top. I use a chopstick for the holes too.
such a perfect dessert for the summer. My family loved it!
I have made this cake so many time that I have the recipe remembered by heart. I make this cake every year for my son’s birthday. He’s 35 now and still today he ask for it. Love the cake it so good and easy to make. I didn’t change anything.
This was delicious! Very light and refreshing. I used strawberry Jello. Instead of using a whole can of cherry pie filling, I only used the jelled portion and not the cherries. Everyone loved it!
It was a hit! I poured the cherry topping in a bowl.
I WAS searching for this thing called poke but it’s like sushi. We’re trying to cut the carbs and our young new neighbors suggested the stuff. Came across this wonderful cake instead. Never seen anything like it! Filled it with multiple colors/flavors of jell-o brand gelatin, NO COMPETITORS.
GREAT RESULTS!! The family scarfed it up and took the leftovers When they left!! Lucky I had tried a piece Easy and will make again . I added a bit of van pudding powder to the frosting after reading others reviews. That is some good cream cheese frosting too!
loved this with the Cherry Pie filling ,first time saw recipe with that super good summer dessert but good any time
I took this to a neighborhood get together and it was a big hit!. I did add 4 eggs to the cake mix, with some vanilla and a pinch of salt, but that is just how I do cake mixes in general. The recipe, I’m sure, would still be 5 stars without my substitutions.
you can also just thaw out frozen sliced strawberries and mix with cool ship for topping .
This Poke Cake was a success with the family during Christmas.. This will be my traditional dish to bring to our family potluck events.
This was delicious. Will make again. I use the handle on a wooden spoon to poke holes in the cake.
Made this with Raspberry Jello and Raspberry pie filling. Must have been big hit because even my picky grandson came back for seconds.
I have made this cake twice for two clubs I am in. Got many compliments from both groups. I used a bought icing and no pie fillings, and everyone loved it. I made one a yellow cake with raspberry jello and the other a white cake with green jello for St. Patricks Day celebration.
This cake is easy to make & definitely a favorite! I use the back of a wooden spoon to make the holes & I think the cake needs to Be in the fridge long enough for the jello to set , 2-3 hrs . Enjoy !
a great cake to make and eat!
Very refreshing. Will make again
