Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder, divided
- 1 lemon, juiced
Instructions
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season chicken with salt and pepper; place in melted butter. Cook chicken, flipping frequently, until browned, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon garlic powder over chicken; cook for 2 minutes. Flip and sprinkle remaining 1 tablespoon garlic powder on the second side; cook for 2 minutes.
- Pour lemon juice over each side of chicken and cook until no longer pink in the center, 5 to 10 minutes more. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

It was quite good. I added minced garlic instead of garlic powder. When I took the chicken out, I added 2 Tbs of flour to the leftover butter in the pan. Cooked it and then added about 1 c of chicken stock to make a gravy. Poured the gravy over the chicken and some mashed potatoes. Served with broccoli.
Really loved this recipe chicken was moist and tender my husband and i really enjoyed it
Loved it!
“Chicken breast halves” is too vague. My pound of chicken breast, that I cut in half, reached a steady state of 90 degrees on medium high heat and never went higher. I had to oven roast it for another 25 minutes at 400 to barely get it to 165 degrees. The chicken was a bit burned on the outside from sitting the suggested time on the skillet, so whatever interesting flavors were supposed to be there didn’t survive browning.
Loved it! Easy to make and usually have all ingredients. Simple and Delicious!
Easy, and quite flavorful…was worried about the garlic quantity, but the taste was mild…my husband and brother said it was a keeper!
Very easy to make and a hit with my fiancé!
Wouldn’t feed this to a coyote.
This was good due a quick meal using chicken. I did add some fresh parsley, rosemary and minced garlic when I added the garlic powder. To me this gave the dish a little more flavor while still being super easy to make!
This was easy and delicious. Nice weeknight main dish!
I prefer more notable flavor but chicken was moist and tender.
Everyone loved it ! Will definitely make this again
Very tasty! I made no changes!
Very tasty
Super easy to make. Great instructions and ingredients. Our family absolutely loves it.
Very flavorful! I used b/s chicken tenders and followed directions. This will become part of my family’s dinner rotation.
This was a simple to make but delicious recipe. This will be one of the recipes for teaching my 10 year old granddaughter to cook.
I was looking for a lemony chicken recipe that wasn’t piccata when I found this one. I decided to cook this based on all the good reviews plus I like lemon and garlic. The lemon and garlic flavors are quite strong, too strong for my family. The whole house smells like garlic powder and lemon. I washed the leftover chicken off after dinner to try to salvage the remaining chicken.
It was as easy as it promised to be. We did not find the garlic salt too much, but next time I would cut down on the salt.
The only change I made was throwing in some slices of garlic into the skillet. One can never have too much garlic.
This is a delicious, simple, “go to” in our house. We love this. This with some asparagus with Parmesan cheese on top for the side….oh yeah.
