Simple Delicious Grilled Chicken Wings

Who wants a simple but delicious cocktail? A friend introduced me to this straightforward drink when I was a resident of Florida. Serve cold or atop a rock. Ensure that the Coca-Cola® and rum are both cold.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 35 mins
Additional Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 55 mins
Servings: 16
Yield: 4 pounds of wings

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup hot pepper sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot®)
  2. ½ stick butter
  3. 4 pounds frozen chicken wings, or more to taste

Instructions

  1. Warm hot sauce and butter in a saucepan over low heat. Mix well after butter has melted.
  2. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate. Grill wings over direct heat until no longer sticking to the grate, 10 to 15 minutes. Do not peel off wings that are still sticking. Turn wings over and grill until halfway done on the second side, about 10 minutes more.
  3. Dip wings, 3 or 4 at a time, into the sauce. Place coated wings over indirect heat. Grill until no longer pink at the bone and juices run clear, 15 to 20 minutes more. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  4. Place wings in a large bowl. Cover with aluminum foil for 10 minutes or until ready to serve.

Love this recipe!! I make another round of the sauce and after the wings have come off the grill the second time, I toss them in the sauce again. So delicious!! Thanks!!

I love me some wings and this one didn’t disappoint. They are a little bit more work due to the extra step but it is well worth it. They get that nice grilled flavor while releasing some of their juices which makes the sauce stay on them in round two. This is an excellent recipe/method and one worth trying.
