Easy Gravy

An appealing crunch to the topping and a tart crisp with a flavor of ginger. Although delicate and creamy, the custard filling is incredibly cohesive. This recipe yields a sizable crisp that’s perfect for bringing to a party or potluck.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 10 mins
Servings: 8
Yield: 2 cups

Ingredients

  1. 2 tablespoons fat drippings (from any type of roasted meat)
  2. 2 cups broth OR bouillon
  3. 2 tablespoons Argo® Corn Starch
  4. ¼ cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Cook fat drippings and broth in a roasting pan or saucepan over medium heat, until hot.
  2. Stir corn starch and water in a small bowl until smooth; add to pan. If desired, add a dash of poultry seasoning for chicken and turkey gravies, a sprinkle of thyme for beef or a pinch of rosemary for pork. Stirring constantly with a wire whisk, bring to a boil over medium heat and boil 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Combine all ingredients in a 2-quart, microwave-safe bowl. With a whisk, stir until corn starch is completely dissolved. Microwave on HIGH (100%) for 7 to 9 minutes or until mixture boils, stirring every minute. Boil for 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. This can be a gluten free recipe if gluten free broth or bouillon is used.

For Lunch and dinner.

I made this and it was simple and delicious. I used 1 1/2 cubes of chicken bullion for a roasted Turkey breast and flour instead of corn starch because that’s what I had on hand. Loved it.

Really good recipe. I did change it up a bit by using Wondra flour instead of cornstarch. However….after rethinkinking it, I believe the cornstarch may have been a bit easier to mix and less lumpy.

Added mushrooms and minced onions. Will be making it again.

This is a very easy, but tasty gravy recipe. I added some beef concentrate to mine and it turned out really well.

The first time that I’ve made delicious gravy!!

I had to add about a 1/2 teaspoon more of cornstarch and it still didn’t stay as thick as I like it. But I made do with it. The gravy was flavorful without adding additional salt or even pepper. Yes, since it was pretty easy, I would make it again.

The Garvey wasn’t as thick as I would have liked, but it was easy and fun

Love it!! Fast and easy… I use old flavor oil since I had no drippings… And it did great.!! My husband said he was full but went for seconds… Will use again just wanted it a little thicker

This was quick, easy, and tasted great! I wasn’t originally going to make gravy since only my husband and I will eat it (3 boys don’t like it), but since I had a few minutes waiting for some carrots to finish steaming, I figured I would give it a try. The texture was wonderful – no lumps at all! The gravy was really good over our mashed potatoes and some roasted chicken. The flavor could be stronger, but that will be something to play around with next time. Oh, and I was still waiting for the carrots to finish steaming when the gravy was finished, so it is really fast to make!

Just made this for thanksgiving and it was great! I added extra poultry seasoning and salt and pepper, but you could add whatever you like. So easy to make and keep warm while you rush around getting everything out on the table. Will definitely be using this as my holiday gravy recipe from now on!
