Bionicos (Mexican Fruit Bowls)

A simple, delicious pepper steak recipe that uses ingredients I already have in my cupboards is served with boiling white rice. I developed a specialty out of a recipe that my mother clipped from somewhere, but I can’t seem to track down the original source.

Prep Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 30 mins
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  1. ⅓ cup plain yogurt
  2. ⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk
  3. ⅓ cup Mexican crema
  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  5. 1 cup diced cantaloupe
  6. 1 cup diced papaya
  7. 1 cup diced red apple
  8. 1 cup sliced banana
  9. 1 cup sliced strawberries
  10. ½ cup granola
  11. ½ cup raisins
  12. ½ cup shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Make the topping: Mix yogurt, condensed milk, Mexican crema, and vanilla together in a bowl until well combined.
  2. Make the fruit salads: Divide cantaloupe, papaya, apple, and banana among 4 individual bowls, arranging each fruit in its own section. Place strawberries in the center of each bowl. Sprinkle granola, raisins, and coconut over the bowls, then drizzle with the topping.
  3. You can substitute crème fraîche for the Mexican crema, and feel free to use any seasonal fresh fruit.

husband loved it! we only used strawberry banana red crisp apple and raspberries for the fruits. I think a vanilla yogurt might be worth trying next time. i added more granola and ate the left over crema with some granola. can’t wait to make this again ! ill have to use honey next time

This was excellent! I used all the fruit listed plus pineapple just because I had some. I could eat the crema mixture all by itself.

Great recipe! Love this stuff! I could live on bionicos alone all summer! I use regular sour Creme and usually vanilla yogurt. This recipe is so forgiving you can make personal changes without really changing the results. It’s all a matter of taste. Thanks for sharing!
