My family loves these, and they never last past the first night they are cooked. They are substantial cookies with attractive filling.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup rolled oats
  2. 1 cup slivered almonds
  3. 1 cup wheat germ
  4. 1 cup flaked coconut
  5. 1 ½ cups white sugar
  6. ½ cup butter
  7. ½ cup milk
  8. ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix oats, almonds, wheat germ, and coconut together in a bowl.
  3. Combine sugar, butter, milk, and cocoa powder together in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Cook and stir cocoa mixture until smooth, about 5 minutes. Pour cocoa mixture over oat mixture; stir to coat.
  4. Drop oat mixture, about 1 tablespoon per cookie, onto the prepared baking sheet. Chill in the refrigerator until set, 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. The longer you boil the cocoa mixture, the thicker the sauce and the better the ingredients stick together.

These tasted good. But they were too dry for me. I cooked mine for 5 minutes, and the mixture got crumbly while I was assembling them. It was difficult to form these into a ball or cookie shape that would stay together.
