Ingredients

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  3. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  4. 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  5. ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  6. ½ teaspoon salt
  7. ½ cup softened butter
  8. 1 ½ cups packed brown sugar
  9. 1 egg, beaten
  10. 1 cup chopped walnuts
  11. 1 cup chopped apples
  12. 1 cup raisins
  13. ⅔ cup confectioners’ sugar
  14. 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter until light and fluffy. Mix in sugar and egg. Stir in flour mixture, and mix thoroughly. Fold in nuts, apples, and raisins.
  3. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto prepared cookie sheets about 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
  4. In a small bowl, mix confectioners’ sugar with milk to make a thin glaze. Drizzle over cooled cookies.

I made this recipe years ago so I forgot-before adding the apples it seemed the batter was very dry and wouldn’t be able to stick together to form cookies but after adding the apples it was fine, I added another cup of apples. I love these cookies!

My husband and I devoured these cookies after I made them! 5 stars for taste for sure!!! I found them to be extra sticky though when trying to form the dough (batter?…?) into balls to put on the parchment paper..could be because I added 2 cups of chopped apples, but I have no regrets!!! I’d make these again in a heartbeat!

Love these but made a couple modifications to it as well. I had 2c of apples so I added a 1/2c oatmeal, 1t vanilla & a handful of diced caramel bits. Yummo!! Will for sure make these again

When I was mixing the ingredients, I was afraid something was wrong. It wasn’t a batter, it was extremely dry, just loose dry ingredients with nothing to hold them together. I added almost two cups of apples and soaked the raisins and craisins in hot water to add a little moisture. I double checked the recipe thinking I must have omitted something, but I followed it exactly. Then I looked at other apple cookie recipes and saw that they all used a little milk, so I added a scant !/4 C. I let it sit for about 20 minutes so the moisture from the apples and dried fruit could get absorbed, and it then looked like a normal batter. They came out great, they’re cakey and moist with good flavor. It made about three dozen small to medium cookies, not 60.

I read a lot of reviews and this sounded like a good new recipe for a wonderful fall season cookie. I prepped everything before starting and have gone over what I did. Still, I cannot figure out what went wrong. These came out pancake thin and looking like something between peanut brittle (very sticky) and a cookie. They spread so much, they might have looked better if I’d just spread them on the pan like a bar cookie. I am giving it 3 stars, because the flavors were good, but these will never have an encore appearance in my kitchen. Too many other good cookies that have turned out great. This was an expensive experiment. Since there’s just 2 of us I bake to have something fresh for us, but share with elderly neighbors. These looked miserable and I was too embarrassed to even give them away.

Great cookies! The only thing I slightly changed was not to “pack” the brown sugar. I ended up with 5-1/2 dozen cookies.

Yum , I doubled the nutmeg, and used pecans because thats all i had. I put the apples and pecans in my ninja for a few seconds to make them easier to mix. They came out soft and yummy. I didn’t even use the glaze because they were sweet enough.

Really easy to make, tasty and soft. Instead of sugar and raisins I used organic apple molasses and dried figs ( you may put them in water for a while to soften).. It worked 🙂

I’m rating this recipe 4 stars because I had to add another 1/2 cup of butter and it only made 45 cookies, not 60. Other wise with the altercations aside, theses are very tasty cookies and my husband loves them! I will make them again but I will be doubling the batch!

This just replaced “Outrageous Oatmeal Cookies” as my favorite dessert. Perfect with a cuppa coffee. The dough as made looked like it would be too dry to bake. It wasn’t. I do wish I had chopped the apple to be more fine, more of a dice than a chop.
