I wanted to make a healthier sausage. I followed the recipe except the meat. I ground some chicken breasts and pork tenderloin. I cooked it in the microwave using my stack cooker. This is the best sausage. The seasonings were perfect.
This is so good! I’ve made it into Italian burgers, meatballs with spaghetti, and more. It’s always a hit! The only alterations I make are to use ground beef instead of pork, omit the anise (since I don’t have it on usually), and cut back on the salt.
Used fennel seeds, ground turkey. It’s my go-to sausage recipe.
Excellent seasoning mix. Have used ground fennel seed in stead of anise.
Excellent . Used it to helped out in meatballs. Gave a great favor to old recipe.
Delicious!
Loved it. Used anise and some caraway seeds.
This is the best recipe for Italian Sausage. The aroma when cooking it is amazing. The taste is very flavorful. I only use this recipe. Thank you so much for publishing this recipe.
Absolutely wonderful! This will be my go to recipe whenever I have sausages in a recipe. Wish I had found this years ago.
good stuff, left out the fennel
Tender quick and yummy
We loved it!
So much better than store bought sausage. I substituted fennel for the anise out of necessity and doubled the red pepper flakes out of preference. I used 90% lean ground pork and formed 2 ounce patties that we grilled. Will keep this recipe (and my changes) and try on pizza and in breakfast quiches. Delicious!
I added 1 teaspoon Caraway seeds.
Didn’t have the anise seeds, but it was great without. Glad I looked for a recipe instead of just putting plain cooked sausage on our pizza. This was much better.
Seasonings are perfect, I did however substitute ground turkey because of the diet I’m on and it turned out delicious. I mixed it all together and refrigerated overnight before cooking.
Made it with turkey as we don’t do pork. Very Tasty. thanks for the recipe
I used half the amount of salt and would use even less next time. Also, I used half ground turkey and half ground pork. Yum!
I use this recipe to spaghetti. We love it.
Very easy to make with a fine flavor for recipes which call for sausage.
I swapped the pork for ground turkey and the results were amazing. This recipe is great for making crumbles for sausage gravy or my personal homemade pizza fries.
