Easy Kielbasa Skillet Dinner

Learn to cook kielbasa in a skillet with veggies for a dish that is delicious, adaptable, and substantial. Whenever this is cooking, the house always smells amazing. Overall, it employs straightforward ingredients, which makes kielbasa worth stocking up on when it is on sale. Before including the vegetables, we prefer to slightly crisp up the kielbasa.

Ingredients

  1. cooking spray
  2. ½ onion, chopped
  3. 1 (16 ounce) package kielbasa sausage, sliced
  4. 3 potatoes, peeled and sliced
  5. ½ head broccoli, cut into florets
  6. salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients.

  3. Spray a large skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium-low heat. Add onion; cook and stir until onion has softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes. Add kielbasa; fry until sausage is lightly browned, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes more.

  5. Stir in potatoes and broccoli; season with salt and pepper. Cook, without stirring, until broccoli begins to soften, about 15 minutes.

  7. Stir well and continue to cook until vegetables are completely tender, 10 to 15 minutes more.

  9. Skin can be left on potatoes if preferred.
  10. Vary vegetables depending on what you have on hand. For example, add or replace broccoli with a can of corn or peas, or add a clove or two of garlic, etc.
  11. If you like a little heat, sprinkle a little hot sauce on top after it’s cooked.

This dish is delicious!! I LOVE potatoes, and kielbasa. Instead of broccoli the 2nd time I made it, I cooked a variety of colors, red, yellow, orange & green thin slices. It was fantastic! and colorful! 😉

I found it easier to cook the potatoes in a separate skillet, adding garlic powder and a little salt to them. When they were done, I just added it to the kielbasa and vegetables. Delicious.

This is a great recipe. I decided to cook my potatoes in a separate Pan so I can get them golden and then I cook my onions separately, as well with the kielbasa then add in my broccoli last with the little salt and pepper and some tajin seasoning. It was perfect!

I would par cook the potatoes in the microwave for about 3-4 minutes before slicing and then add to pan olive oil and potatoes and cook 10-15 minutes and then add broccoli and add onions and sausage and cook for another 20 minutes til all is cooked

Looks good. I make my own kielbasa so this will be a nice variation. I would prefer green bell pepper instead of broccoli. It goes good with sausage.

You can also stick this in the oven on a sheet pan at 400 until the potatoes are done. Put everything in a bowl and mix well with whatever seasoning you wish. Spread out and turn it over after 15 minutes so that it will roast evenly. On the stove, I fry it with cabbage, potatoes, onions, and kielbasa. Good with cornbread.

I’ve made this for years, since my polish MIL made it and my husband loves it. But she used shredded cabbage and shredded carrot . I’ve made it even easier as I just get the coleslaw bag in the produce department. I put the potatoes on while cut the kielbasa, so dinner is on the table in 20-25 minutes start to finish! I might try the broccoli and onion version this winter which is why I gave it 4 stars now and will revisit this version later.

I do a similar one. I cook the sliced kielbasa, take out of pan. I add onions and chopped cabbage and some chicken broth. Season it with Nature Seasoning and pepper ( add more salt if desired). Cook to your desired consistency with cabbage. Then add the kielbasa back. Stir and when warmed to your liking serve. Delicious! My motto – Simple/ Easy / Good !!

This is such an inexpensive, tasty recipe that takes no time at all to make an I swear that it comes out better each time my husband and I make it! We choose to use turkey kielbasa instead which tastes just as delicious!

Made this with the garlic and pepper sausage that came with my monthly meat share instead of kielbasa. Also happened to have a red onion instead of a regular yellow one so used that. I never know what to do with the sausage that comes with the meat share other than grill it and stick it on a roll with peppers and onions. This was a delicious variation! I added a glug of soy sauce right at the end as well.

I followed this recipe pretty much as written, except maybe the timing, and some seasonings. I added a few “shakes” of caraway seeds, and some red pepper flakes. It is SUPER easy, and DELICIOUS.

Tasty and quick. I added some chicken broth to add some flavor to the simmer time and also some fresh baby spinach at the end for some more green. Next time I think I will add the broccoli a bit later than the potatoes. I like my veggies more on the crisp side than the mushy side, but the Katie’s were still hard. So had to cook it longer which made the broccoli pretty soggy. But flavor was good.

I made this for dinner and my husband and I both really enjoyed it. I did add a tablespoon of minced garlic and 2 carrots. Next time I might use more onion than the recipe calls for. It really was delicious.
