Instant Pot Honey-Glazed Ham

  5.0 – 1 reviews  • Whole

This recipe makes spiral-cut, bone-in ham that has already been cooked. The spiral ham you get at the grocery store is almost always already fully cooked, so you typically only need to reheat it. The container for the ham includes instructions on how long to cook or heat it, and those instructions almost usually suggest using an oven. I’m here to inform you that after using an Instant Pot, I don’t think I’ll ever reheat a bone-in, spiral ham in an oven again!

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins
Additional Time: 25 mins
Total Time: 1 hr
Servings: 24
Yield: 1 ham

Ingredients

  1. ¼ cup water
  2. 6 ½ pounds bone-in, spiral-cut ham
  3. 1 cup brown sugar
  4. ½ cup honey
  5. 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard (Optional)
  6. 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce (Optional)
  7. ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (Optional)
  8. ¼ teaspoon ground ginger (Optional)
  9. 1 pinch freshly grated nutmeg (Optional)
  10. 1 pinch ground cloves (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour water into the steel basin of a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot). Place the ham, sliced side-down, into the pot.
  2. Mix brown sugar, honey, mustard, Worcestershire, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves together in a bowl. Pour glaze on top of the ham. Close and lock the lid.
  3. Select high pressure according to manufacturer’s instructions; set timer for 10 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
  4. Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer’s instructions for 10 minutes. Release any remaining pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to manufacturer’s instructions, about 5 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid.
  5. Drain liquid from the pot into a bowl and set aside. Allow ham to rest for at least 10 minutes; remove to a platter.
  6. Select Saute function and add the liquid back into the pot. Cook until reduced to your liking, 5 to 10 minutes. Pour sweet sauce on top of ham slices when serving.
  7. You can use coconut sugar instead of brown sugar if you like.
  8. A 6 1/2 pound ham should fit in a 6-quart pot, but if yours is slightly larger then you may need to cut the ham to make it fit. Place both pieces into the pot at the same time, if possible.
