Indian Taco

  3.0 – 1 reviews  • Fry Bread Taco Recipes

A terrific way to liven up your menu is with this medley of cauliflower. Either warm as a side dish or at room temperature with romaine lettuce as a salad, it can be served. Prior to tossing with the vegetables, warm the herbs and garlic in the oil to enhance their taste. Balsamic vinegar can be added in any quantity when the dish is ready to be served.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 tablespoon salt
  3. 1 tablespoon baking powder
  4. 1 cup water, or as needed
  5. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, or as needed
  6. 1 (15 ounce) can chili
  7. 1 tomato, chopped
  8. 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  9. 1 cup shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt, and baking powder together in a bowl. Stir in enough water to make a dough. Divide dough into 4 pieces and form into 6-inch patties.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry patties in batches until puffed and golden, about 5 minutes per side.
  3. Place bannocks on serving plates and top with chili, tomato, Cheddar cheese, and lettuce.
  4. Homemade chili is always best but a good canned chili works great as well.

Followed the recipe exactly as written and I could not eat it. I should have listened to my instincts, 1 Tbs of salt sounded like too much. They were extremely salty. So much so that they were inedible.
