If you don’t have access to an outdoor grill, skillet hamburgers are practical.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins
Total Time: 30 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 burgers

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound ground beef
  2. ½ teaspoon salt
  3. ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  4. 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Form ground beef into 4 equal burgers.
  2. Preheat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. Add burgers and cook until browned, about 2 minutes per side.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Season burgers with 1/2 of the salt and 1/2 of the pepper, flip, and cook for 6 minutes. Season with remaining salt and pepper, flip, and cook for another 6 minutes.
  4. Pour 1/2 of the Worcestershire sauce onto the burgers, flip, and cook for 2 minutes. Repeat with remaining sauce and cook, about 2 minutes more. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (71 degrees C).

Such a simple recipe that uses few ingredients yet bursting in flavor. This was excellent. Not gonna lie, I prefer my burgers grilled but this recipe was really good. I do think it can be done with a couple less flips but in the end, who cares? When I pulled the burgers from the skillet to rest, there was this yummy pan juice that I couldn’t let go to waste. I sauteed some fresh sliced mushrooms in it and then added a can of beef gravy. It was similar to something my mom did growing up and it really hit the spot. The next time I plan on grilling burgers but it is pouring down rain outside, this will be the recipe I make.
