I signed in and decided to give my two cents just for this recipe!! SO, the flavor is amazing. I added garlic, paprika, asiago and motz cheese, thyme & oregano to the layers. HOWEVER, the maker of this recipe either forgot to mention that you should cook or soften the potatoes before baking or sadly mistook the proper time because even after 1.3 hours of cooking at the temperature suggested, the potatoes still did not cook enough. Flavor is amazing and once I fix it, it will be amazing, but to future makers of this possibly kick butt recipe, pre-cook the potatoes or hold the cheese until they are soft then put it on.

My family loved it. It took longer for the potatoes to cook, but it turned out great.

Easy to make, everyone loved them! Made them without the ham since we were serving them with ham at Easter dinner. Even yummy the next day as left overs!

This was awesome! I did change it though based on the other reviews. I pre-boiled the sliced potatoes for seven minutes, I used cream of chicken soup and cheddar cheese soup instead of the soup suggested and gravy I added 3/4 cup of sour cream in addition to the one cup of milk and put one cup of cheddar cheese in the sauce mix in addition to the one cup of cheddar cheese sprinkled on top. I baked it 350 for 40 minutes and the family loved it??!!!! I would definitely make this again?

Such an easy scalloped and potato ham recipe. Using my kitchen aid spiralizer, this recipe is a simple thing to make when trying to keep my young kids entertained. Everyone in the family asks for this one.

I have made this recipe many times (many different ways) and I have found that cooking the sliced potatoes in my instant pot first (for 1 minute and then a quick release) makes it so much easier and I know the potatoes will be cooked through. Then I put it all together and bake it uncovered for 25 minutes in the oven.

COOKING TIME!!! I am rating this two stars due to huge inaccuracy of cooking time. I sliced potatoes about 1/8″ – 3/16″ thick (mostly 1/8″). After more than an EXTRA 45 minutes in the oven, I would say the thicker ones were still “al dente,” even though I upped the temperature to 385, and stirred them a couple of times. This delayed supper…making me stand around being annoyed. I can’t understand why these take so long. You can bake a potato in much less time. Very frustrating. Flavor good…just plan on way more time. Also the ham pieces shrunk after cooking for so long. They could probably be added later to avoid this. And while I’m piling on, I don’t understand the part about the layers. I cannot fathom why everything is not just mixed in a bowl and put into the casserole dish.

These came out perfect for our dinner tonight. I modified the recipe a bit after folks comments & used what I had available at home. Came out excellent!! I first cleaned & sliced my potatoes (skin on) and placed in my Instant Pot for 7 mins on steamer. Let cool after

Tasted great. I added a little minced green onion to add a little color and extra flavor. And a little extra cheese but my family loves this dish.

I cooked for a total of 1 hour 30 min as I do not have a mandolin. Also I used turkey gravy and cream of mushroom soup. Have made it twice now and it is incredibly difficult to screw up. Both times it was wonderful!

I made this for the very first time. It came out delicious. My family loved it. I will make this again.

Awesome Flavor. I did cook longer than stated, an hour with foil and 15 minutes without. YUMMY! The entire family had third helpings, and it was a great way to use up the leftover Christmas ham! Thank you for posting such an easy but delicious recipe. 🙂

The potatoes were not thoroughly cooked. The consistency was fine, but bland. It had no flavor except for the onions. Needed salt and pepper. Next time I will cook longer. The potatoes were sliced very thin. Still were not cooked all the way.

I did make a few little changes because of some other reviews, but it was delicious!

this was fantastic! i made a ham dinner on a sunday. with a busy week ahead i needed to make something with left overs and came across this.. my daughter had a late soccer game friday, had all ingredients on hand.. expect i was missing 2 out of 5 potatoes. perfect amount. i had yukon taters.. and used 2 cups of ham. i added 2 tablespoons each of garlic pepper, onion powder, a pinch of Caynne pepper and 2 tablespoons of shredded cheese, mixed with soup.. followed layered and cooked as directed. let sit out until back from hand.. and pop back in 35-40 mins with cheese on top to warm up.. family went nuts..great with toss salad, corn top or/ slice butter bread.. will make again.. thanks

The cooking time is way off on this recipe and for that reason I only gave this 3 stars. I gave it an extra 30 minutes and couldn’t wait any longer to get to an Easter celebration. Flavor was nice, but not much is worse than undercooked potatoes at a party.

My husband doesn’t like ham or potatoes but he loved this recipe. I didn’t have any canned gravy and just made some out of bullion and it worked just fine. Also, I baked it during the day and put the cheese on last minute with just a quick reheat to make sure the potatoes were tender. This recipe could work well in a crockpot.

Very nice for using up leftover ham. I used cream of mushroom (didn’t have cream of celery) and added 1/4 t celery salt. Also, used unpeeled red potatoes. I used a hand slicer with “thick” setting blade, for taters and onion. Cooking time was perfect. This is comfort food and was exactly what scalloped potato and ham should taste like. Much of the flavor will come from your ham. A “ham and water product” ham will be much less flavorful than a smoked ham or spiral cut, etc.

I made the homemade chicken gravy: 1 1/2 c. water, 2 chicken bouillon cubes, 1/2c. flour. I put an extra layer of cheese in the middle and doubled the ham. Baked it covered at 400 for 30 min then uncovered art 375 for 45 min. The hubby loved it!!

The flavor was good but I ended up cooking another 25 minutes because my potatoes were not done. I used my mandolin so they were all the same size which was thin. Will make again.
