Ingredients
- 4 Hawaiian bread rolls, split
- 4 tablespoons lingonberry jam
- 4 slices deli ham
- 4 slices deli Swiss cheese
- ½ cup melted butter
- ¼ cup dried onion flakes
- ¼ cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon honey mustard
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place bottom of buns on the prepared baking sheet. Layer lingonberry jam, ham, and Swiss cheese equally on top of each. Add melted butter, onion flakes, sugar, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, and honey mustard equally to each. Replace tops of buns.
- Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is melted and buns are toasty, 15 to 20 minutes.

I thought these were delicious! I made two substitutions. I used grape jelly and no sugar.
Considering that the rolls are sweet, as is the honey mustard, the jam, not to mention most hams are sugar cured, I do not see why any more sugar would be good for this recipe. I would most likely even reduce the jam, or substitute fresh berries, and then as a side to accompany this dish, rather than add them to the sandwich.
These turned out really good. After reading over the recipe I knew I was going to make one change to suit us. I completely left out the sugar and I’m glad I did. Between the rolls, jam, and honey mustard these were plenty sweet. You don’t need the sugar in my opinion. I found Hawaiian mini hoagie bread rolls and they worked good for this too. Overall good recipe and one I would make again.
