This cookie jar looks beautiful and tastes amazing. I make it for friends and neighbors during the holidays and always get lots of compliments. I have even used an alternative flour for gluten sensitive friends and they love it too!

This are so good. I made three dozen, left my grown son and his girlfriend at my house for two days while we went away for a weekend. Came home to 6 cookies! The butter is not listed in the recipe. It should be a half a cup softened butter. I also changed the pecans to macadamia nuts!

I made these cookies the first time because I loved the name! They immediately became a family favorite. Just a caution, if you double the recipe it does not change the amounts of butter, eggs and vanilla in the directions. Happy baking!

The name caught my eye but the ingredients made me try them. I doubled ingredients and followed recipe. I now have a new family favorite. Everyone ,of all ages said they were so good. As a gift in a jar I am sure that it will be great.

My sweet tooth was going crazy so I just had to make some cookies. I like following the recipe that is submitted to Allrecipes because I like the way most of the recipes turn out. We just happened to have dried cranberries on hand and found this awesome recipe bySusan. I had all the ingredients on hand except for the chocolate chips. What I did have was left over Halloween mini Snickers bars (I chopped up them up). I used them in place of chocolate chips. Turned out great. Boy what a great recipe. Thank you Susan for this submission. I’ll be making this more often.

I found a “gift jar” hiding in my pantry. I have no idea how long it had been there. I went ahead and mixed it up and baked it. Delicious! Having a hard time keeping my husband (and me) from gobbling them up. I plan to gift same “jar” to my neighbors next Christmas.

I substitute dark chocolate for the white chocolate You can do it as a gift in a jar with directions or just the make whole recipe at the same time

Hi! This is my recipe from years ago. It is my daughter’s favorite cookie. They are called Cranberry Hootycreeks because that is the name of the road I live on (which is named for the creek behind my home …. which is a meeting place for barn owls and their mates who stay together for life, but do not stay together outside of mating season. They come sit in the trees and call to one another…it makes the creek very hooty. Enjoy and be blessed!

I made these up at the start of the year for our church youth group girl’s birthday gifts, and they were terrific! This is the “prettiest” laying cookie mix I could find, and was honestly a little worried they might not taste as good as they look. That was absolutely not the case though; these cookies are delicious! Rave reviews from all the girls and leaders. Absolutely recommend!

Great gift….. and the cookies are so delicious. Thank you for this recipe

These cookies are chewy with many flavor bursts.

Easy to make and delicious!!

Horrible. Eggs and butter curdled. Mix was crumbly. Cookies never came together

Phenomenal! However, I accidentally purchased 60 oz jars rather than the recommended 32 oz jar. Doubling the recipe comes out perfectly to the top with no room to spare! On my tag, I added freeze and have another quick batch of Hootycreeks!

I made these as a trial run last night. We have a nut allergy in our house, so I doubled the chocolate chips. I liked the way they turned out. I was thinking that I might try some with cranberries and pistachios or maybe dried cherries and semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Made these for the second time for Christmas gifts! I used a large-mouth quart-size Mason jar as instructed, but there wasn’t room for the pecans, so I left them out…which works out pretty well since I’m always worried about food allergies. If you layer the ingredients as listed, you can stop at the cranberry layer and SMOOSH down using a small gravy ladle. That’ll give you enough room to add the white chocolate chips. If you don’t have room for pecans (like me!), you can add a note to the recipe card to add 1/2 c. of chopped pecans if desired.

I made these jars for Christmas 10 years ago and everyone loved them I skipped a year and had about 10 people complain they didn’t get their Christmas cookies, wont make that mistake again

Advice not to overstuff the cookies with add-ins, otherwise it’s all crunch and not enough dough to hold it together. Very filling. These did not spread on the baking sheet.

I made this with my students and they all wanted to take the recipe to make them at home! Great cookies!
