These were pretty good. I added bread crumbs as I had no crackers and had to add an extra egg to bind it. Unable to roll in cornmeal as the patties kept falling apart when I tried. Added more spices (dill weed, garlic powder, citrus pepper) to spice them up. I used skinless boneless pink salmon.
Simple and good. A family favorite. I don’t roll it in the bread crumbs before cooking. I serve it with rice pilaf and peas for a fast healthy dinner.
Nostalgia. Like my Mom made
Wonderful recipe I added a few things to it. My husband and I don’t eat a lot of fried foods so the Air Fryer worked out great.
These were easy and really good. I didn’t have celery or ( were in the middle of a snow/ice storm) onions so I used onion powder and celery salt ( skipped table salt) . Looking forward to making them again with real onions and celery.
Very good! We are gluten free so I used corn Chex instead of saltines and I wound up needing one more egg. Tasted great. Thanks!
Wife was not feeling well so thought this recipe looked simple enough for me. Thought I’d try it instead of her usual salmon patty recipe. Made it as specified in the recipe except didn’t have the second, smaller can of salmon and didn’t have celery so I substituted 1-1/2 tsp celery salt. Also added another egg as the mixture looked a little dry and feared the patties wouldn’t hold together. In spite of the variety of ingredients I found the result to be rather bland, at least for our tastes. After the first bite I wished I had added some diced onion as several of the other reviewers suggested. Wife quietly ate patties without comment. Later said, “Next time use my recipe?” (Salmon, eggs, onion and cracker crumbs.) Had a leftover patty on a sandwich the next day and added a slice of onion. Made all the difference. In the end I guess it all depends on to what you are accustomed.
Very good.
Very tasty a written served with a side of fries and caramelized cabbage.
This is 99% exactly as my mother used to make salmon patties for us kids!! The only thing different was she did not roll in cornmeal. I tried. I loved it. Thank you for reminding me of some of the comfort foods my mom used to make while she was alive. She passed 3 yrs after my dad…so I am sure she is happier now she is with her husband of 63 yrs! Thank you!
Made it, add another egg, and I used zatarains fish fry to bread them, delicious!
I used 1 can of salmon, half an onion, 2-3 cloves of minced garlic, breadcrumbs mixed with Italian dressing seasoning mix, half a stalk of celery, 2 eggs, salt-pepper-garlic powder-union powder & fresh dill (about 3 sprigs). I baked them for 15 minutes @ 450 (I don’t eat fried food) then broil for 2 minutes to add some crisp.
Really good! I added some milk to keep it from crumbling when I cooked it. That helped a lot. I also added a touch of hot sauce. I like the corn meal on the outside. It gives it a good texture. Delicious, easy and nutritious meal!
I have made several times, its a very easy recipe, It is a hit at our table. Be gentle with the patty and it will hold together well. I fried in corn/olive oil combination and it tastes great.
I made these last night minus the celery. I just followed my Mother’s old recipe from watching her make these and they turned out awesome. Quick, easy and inexpensive. I served with some buttered rice and loaded chef salad.
Turned out very well. I will make it again!
Yes about to make Cajun style seasoning added yummmy
It turned great. It was a great way to use left over salmon.
I added ‘old Bay’ seasoning. They were delicious….
The recipe didn’t say to drain the canned salmon, so I umed that the crackers would absorb the moisture, but it didn’t. After the first panful of patties ended up in a big mess that I fed to the dog, I added a lot of cornmeal to the mixture to make them into something that would keep its form while frying.
I pretty much made it as per recipe except with fresh bbq’ed salmon and then made the mistake of tasting it before the cornmeal and frying. It was so good that I just put it on a little lettuce and ate it straight away. I’ll try to get to the frying part next time.
