I followed the recipe exactly and it came out great. I have some in refrigerator for the nights that I really don’t feel like cooking something any more complicated. Handy to have, easy to use.

So simple that my 6-year-old measured and mixed it up. And just as tasty as the bottled stuff. Super-handy since it involves standard pantry materials. Put the meat to marinate on a weekend day, throw in a crock pot with rice, and you have yourself a weeknight dinner with no weekday prep.

Way too salty even for a salt lover.

I found the recipe salty even though I used a low sodium soy sauce. I would also add a tiny bit more cornstarch but I would coat the meat with it simply so it sticks better

Great marinade! Worked wonderfully for my tuna steaks. Easy. I used my red blend wine instead of the sherry, and it tasted great, just like a premade teriyaki sauce purchased at a grocery store!
Brian Hansen
it was quick and easy and super good

As written… great recipe! I have also made it with different substitutions – sometimes my pantry runs out and I forget to restock… it happens. I’ve used rice vinegar, brown sugar, extra ginger, etc…. they all have worked great. I also sometimes add some cornstarch for a thicker consistency. Thanks for the recipe! 🙂

Most amazing!

Made this last night for a flank steak stir fry. I added about 2 Tablespoons of orange juice and 1 Tablespoon of corn starch to thicken it. Otherwise, followed as directed and it made an excellent sauce for the stir fry and rice/farro mixture. Thanks for posting!

It was fabulous. I also added garlic. The family is in love.

This is a great base, but would recommend some modifications. It definitely benefits from 1 T. Cornstarch to thicken, otherwise it will be quite watery. I doubled the garlic and used lime juice instead of sherry. You could also substitute honey or brown sugar for the white sugar. Play with it and make it your own!

Love this recipe, after a few times found the perfect combo, low sodium soy sauce, brown sugar instead of white and a good dash of sesame oil, the longer you marinate the better

Nice simple recipe tasted delicious.

I used this in a recipe and it worked out fabulous. I omitted the sherry only because I never had any on hand, still was tasty

I doubled this recipe and used brown sugar instead of white. Also added another teaspoon of ginger, then split mixture in half and froze one for future use. I took the other half and added a cup of orange juice, brought to a boil and thickened with corn starch

way, way too salty. added carrots, onions, more sugar and vinegar to dilute salty taste but still salty. Wont use this recipe again.

I am gluten free so I usually have to make my own sauces. This was delicious using Tamari soy sauce(GF)!!

This was pretty good. I was making teriyaki burgers and realized that I had forgotten to by teriyaki marinade. I didn’t want to go back to the store, so I decided to make my own marinade. This worked well. If I ever make this again I will probably add a little brown sugar, just because I think it would work well and cut down on the saltiness.

Tried it on my teriyaki chicken and it was overpoweringly salty and just poor flavor. If this is just a marinade, it shouldn’t say sauce! Had rinse off our chicken and used BBQ instead.

Do NOT make this as a side for rice or for a topping to your teriyaki chicken. As a marinade? I’m sure it’s great. Giving 3 stars because I hate rating a recipe badly but this is really a marinade, not a sauce. Maybe with low sodium soy sauce it would have worked better?
Alexander Griffin
Made it just as written. Will never buy the bottled sauce again.
