Reviews
This recipe has potential. I liked the muffins, but the batter was thick. I would add 1/3 cup of milk to start and add 1 t. of cinnamon to the batter. Other reviews suggested ½ brown sugar and ½ granulated sugar which I think would give a better flavor to the muffin. I also would double the topping.
Loved these – even my non muffin eating husband!! Only changes added cinnamon to the batter, a splash of milk and 1/2 c walnuts. Next time I’ll use cold butter for the streusel:)
These are pretty good muffins. Tastes kind of like a coffee cake in a muffin form. The topping is what makes the muffin. My whole family liked them. I got 16 muffins from this recipe.
Made these last night and they came out SO GOOD! I was worried they’d be a little dry without milk but they weren’t! My boyfriend loved them too! I did add some cinnamon to the batter itself, but other than that love it!
Made them twice, perfect both times. Made extra extra topping
Excellent muffin, easy and delicious. I did add 2/3 cup milk alternating with the flour.
Easy recipe and fabulous taste!
Remember the old dairy ads “Got milk?” Where’s the milk? I needed to add about a half cup. But the flavor was great.
Needed to make something quick with my aging apples. It was simple, had all the ingredients I needed. But I did add cinnamon and allspice to my dry mix and used 1/2 white and 1/2 brown sugar in the wet. I debated cooking down the apples a bit before, but no need to.
Like other reviews, I have to add a bunch of milk to thin the batter out. I pour and mix until the creator tells me to stop! I add cinnamon to the flour mixture for an extra kick
I have made these twice, once with white flour and once with whole wheat flour, I use frozen sliced apples and they turned out great, will be my favorite go-to recipie.
These came out amazing! I followed the recipe- and several tips mentioned in reviews. Added cinnamon, allspice, and a splash of milk (oat milk) to the batter. Also seared the apple slices in butter before adding them which made them easier to mix into the batter. Everyone in the family loved them and we’re still snacking on them two days later.
These came out pretty good! I chopped granny smith apples into small pieces and let them sit in the sugar before adding to the mix, added all spice, and a splash of milk. They turned out delicious and were not dry!
These were quite tasty and easy to make. Only took about 1.5 apples, I did not bother peeling and that worked out just fine. I doubled the cinnamon in the topping to 1/4 tsp but next time I think I will also increase cinnamon in the topping and add cinnamon to the batter itself. I think the recipe is a keeper but with more cinnamon.
Amazing … I did add milk to make the batter more liquidity, And added a sprinkle of all spice and cinnamon to the apples after they were cut to sit while I prepared the rest of the batter and idk if it made a difference but I (accidentally) waited until the muffins were almost done to add the topping absolutely delicious and moist! They turned out perfect
The topping is the only good part about this recipe. Muffins came out super dry and very flavorless. Definitely need more moisture in the dough and Definitely need to add cinnamon or something to the batter.
I followed the recipe with no changes, and they are delicious! Thank you for a great recipe.
It was just meh. Hope you’re not making these to impress someone. Batter is bland – needs cinnamon or something. Batter was also very dry, more like cookie dough – could use some milk. The topping came out on top – no changes needed! Like Popeye’s biscuits, have a glass of milk handy while you eat them. I’d rather do the one chip challenge than eat them again.
I love this recipe! The only change I made was to cook the apples in a skillet with a tab of butter before mixing them in to the bowl to equally distribute the moisture and apple flavor before cooking. I also added chopped pecans on top. The apple flavor is fantastic and moist and the cinnamon doesn’t over power it since it’s only in the topping. I used honey crisp apples because they’re my favorite for baking. Yummy!
We have made these twice in a week because this recipe has great ratios of liquid/fat/flour. We made a double once we established it was a good recipe. We also sub’d in fruit punch, pears for apples, ginger instead of cinnamon, dash of allspice, and baked them in ice cream cones.
Absolutely amazing recipe! Very easy to follow and ingredient portions are spot on! Would def recommend
