Ultimate Cold Relief Home Remedy Tea

  4.1 – 6 reviews  • Hot

Just like Nana used to make, fluffy, moist skillet cornbread! Butter and honey are recommended.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 10 mins
Servings: 1
Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

  1. 8 ounces water, or as needed
  2. 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  3. 1 tablespoon honey
  4. 1 cinnamon stick
  5. 1 clove garlic, peeled and smashed

Instructions

  1. Combine water, vinegar, honey, cinnamon stick, and garlic in a small saucepan. Heat to 100 degrees F (38 degrees C); remove from heat and pour into a mug.
  2. Cook’s Note:
  3. My Great Grannie Gerdes, lovingly referred to as Keister Gamma by my family (long story), used to wash and disinfect with vinegar. She espoused the medicinal properties of the soured wine and used it to great effect while attaining a healthy 103 years of age. She must have been doing something right. My experience brewing kombucha has instilled a respect for the temperature sensitive active components in the medicinal qualities of vinegar, honey, and essential oils.

Came out really good I didn’t have cinnamon sticks so I used some ground cinnamon instead and it came out awesome!

Made this with powdered cinnamon because somehow our sticks disappeared, drank half the cup, coughed twice and cleared my throat. Amazing!

Looking for a tea to help my wife with her cold and sore throat I found this. Some what weirded out by the garlic, I was skeptical that my wife would even try it. However, I bought the stuff and made it anyways. Long story short, my wife said that it wasn’t terrible, just a bit strong. I did remove the garlic pieces but left cinnamon stick inside the cup. Today she looked and felt so much better. Was it the tea? Who knows, but I will definitely keep this recipe for the next cold. Thanks allrecipes!!

Coming down with what feels like a cold I decided to give this a try. Easy enough to make followed recipe. Does not taste bad at all sweet with the vinegar twang. Only gave it 4 stars because I had nothing to compare by. Will update if this remedy actually works!

I was a little skeptical about the taste of this drink but turned out to be good. Sweet and quite enjoyable. This drink definitely helped to unblock my sinuses. This is a natural recipe that works and there is nothing better than that.

Very nice! I added an extra tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and about a quarter tablespoon of fresh ginger. I can almost feel it kicking my cold in the butt!
