Compared to when I lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota, around 80% of tourists now inquire about my method of cooking fish. I explain that besides the fact that I am a more happy cook, not much has changed. This Christmas season, this meal will definitely be a favorite at your dinner table! Serve alongside rice or spaghetti.

I like a thicker soup so I used one cup of Barley. Great flavor..Great recipe… I’ve made it many times now. Thank you.
good flavor but just a bit too “tomatoey” for my taste. I doubled the barley and added garlic. good soup though
Excellent. All the elements for a meal. Freezes very well.
Simple, yummy, perfect the way it’s written. Comfort food!
Excellent and easy to make. I’m single so I adjusted the serving size to 6. Still had enough for the week. Served with crusty bread. Outstanding
Fantastic but I did add small shells to it. Tastes even better reheated!
This is a great recipe! The only thing I do differently is add a cup of barley. It sounds like a lot but it comes out perfect.
This is my “Go to“ soup recipe. We like spicy undertones so I add 1/4 teaspoon of crushed chilli flakes . Turns out perfect every time a firm 5 star recipe.
I’ve made it twice. It’s a good soup, but hey, it’s just hamburger soup, right? It’s easy and fast to make, and that makes it a winner in my book, for those days you really don’t have time to cook.
Very good indeed! The only thing I left out was the can of tomato soup. I thought it would be too “tomato-y”. Aside from that I followed the recipe just as written. Will make again but I would add more barley. Great for a chilly autumn supper. Thanks for sharing!
Very delicious and easy! I added a can of corn and a can of green beans after pressure cooking and I subbed potatoes for the barley.
yes I added zucchini in the receipe instead of celery
Very bland. My family all agreed so we delayed dinner for about 30 minutes and turned it into chili.
It was awesome! I made it and added peppers for a little spice.
I did reduced the liquid, cooked the meat separately and drained excessive fat, as well as added teaspoon of salt to 2 lbs of meat. At the end, I added grated cheese.
I will definitely do this again. It was hearty! I substituted brown rice for the barley and added two cans of vegetables when it was almost done. I chose green beans and corn to make it
Made it just like recipe stated. Have been making this for 30 years or so and its always good
I will make this again and again
A added some Beef Bullion and I omitted the Tomato Soup, it made it too sweet. The second time it turned out more beefy…
So easy & tasty comfort soup! It does make a big pot of soup which we enjoyed for several days & I froze the rest. I used tomato sauce instead of the tomato soup & used a pound of hamburger & 1/2 pound of Italian sausage I will definitely make this soup again! Thank you for great recipe!
I doubled the onion, didn’t have beef consomme so used 1 litre of mushroom and 2 litres of chicken. Also used regular group beef. It was so tasty, will definitely make it again and again!
