This was delicious, I made it for my 4th of July barbecue, I took it out put it down turned around and it was gone it was amazing I did change a little bit of it.. I used white cake instead of yellow and I used the cool whipped frosting recipe on this website and it was so good. I think the adults at the party ate more then the kids lol. Everyone was asking for the recipe. I think the must have is the homemade frosting, it took the cake over the top. I will definitely be making this for our annual 4th of July party every year
Very delicious and simple to make!! Adding instant vanilla pudding mix to whipped cream gives icing great flavor to complement the fruit, will make again for sure!!
With everything going on with our BBQ and guests…LOTS of guests!…I got lazy and went to my local supermarket which had a bakery. I bought a full-sheet plain white cake and decorated it my self. I did kinda go over-board on the decorations but it came out kinda cool!
Not perfect, but delicious!! Used suggestions. Chocolate cake go’s great with cool whip. Especially when it has vanilla pudding in it. Thank you for the recipe and the suggestions. Happy 4th of July.
Made it as directed and for the topping I did as Better suggested and mixed vanilla pudding and vanilla in with the cool whip. Much thicker consistency. Very very good!!
I’ve made this a few times now and it’s always a big hit!
Just darn good!
This cake is so easy to make, very light and so delicious! It was a huge hit for our July 4th gathering! I will be making this again for sure! Thank you!
No changes, I would make it again!!!
Thank you so much this was nice and easy I am definitely making it next year
It was awesome turned out exactly how I wanted it
I was the star of the evening with this gorgeous yet incredibly simple, light cake.
Easy to make cake and festive! I followed the recipe to the tee, the whipped cream adds a fresh taste!
I make it with white cake mix instead of yellow. I also made this with a strawberry & blueberry “compote”ish like filling on top of the cake. I placed that on after it cooled. I made it like one does any “compote” Then I layered the whipped topping and added the berries for decorative purposes. My family and friends ATE IT UP!!! It’s a really good recipe. Like any other it just needs your personal touch. 🙂
Great recipe! Everyone loved it! Great for 4th of July or the Olympics!
easy, super quick, tastes good. just don’t overcook the box cake to be too dry.
Whole family loved it and have asked me to make it again. Not too heavy or too sweet. Perfect summer dessert!
So moist and light! I added orange zest to the cake mix in the form of Doterra’s wild orange essential oil. Gave it a nice citrus kick.
I made it with a super moist white cake mix and did homemade whip topping since no one in my house like Cool Whip. Turned out light and very moist. Everyone love3d it. It was gone by the end of the evening.
I used chocolate cake mix instead but came out perfect!:)
Very easy to make and perfect for the 4th of July!
