These buttery toffee-tasting soft shortbread bars are made easier to make thanks to the maple flavoring. For three generations, this has been a family favorite.

Very good! I opted to spread the chocolate chips over the top after baking. Husband loved them!
This has become a favorite with my husband and sons. Before putting in the oven, I sprinkle sugar ( and some big grind sea salt) on the top, like an actual peanut butter cookie. I love pb cookies, but hate the rolling out of the individual cookies. This recipe fixes that, with the taste of a soft warm pb cookie, without the fuss. One bowl, one casserole dish, it’s easy peasy.
I make these all the time! So easy and delicious! Chocolate chips are a must add.
amazing taste
I followed a review and made in an 8X8 pan for 18 minutes. No other changes. A peanut butter tasting, cake-like bar, for certain. Not at all sweet, probably due to the amount of salt. I was just looking for a more dessert-sweet flavor. Will not be making again.
This is sooo easy, and I’ve made it twice.I do use natural peanut butter, and unsalted butter. And you do not need to cream the butter and sugar — just dump everything in. And yes, a whole tablespoon of good vanilla. And the cup of semi-sweet Chocolate chips. The batter is dense, you need to pat it down. It was suggested to line your pan with aluminum foil, then spray with cooking spray — easy to lift out, cool and cut. Finally. I took the remaining chocolate chips and tossed them on top right after I removed them from the oven. After they melted, I spread the warmed chocolate all over. Yum. Thanks, Melinda!!
These peanut butter bars are AMAZING!! I’ve made this recipe so many times I practically have it memorized!! I usually do close to a cup of peanut butter and a 10 oz package of peanut butter chips! SO. GOOD. and an amazing dessert for a party!!! Thank you so much for this recipe!!!
I followed recipe exact & they came out DRY … not moist enough for my taste requirements.
Full of protein and sugar.
This is very easy to make and my friends and family really liked them. I thought they were slightly greasy. I’ll dabble with this recipe a few times to see if I can get them less greasy before I give up on it. Thank you for the recipe.
I think these are pretty good. I made 1/2 a batch followed the recipe , no substitutions except used round pie plate as one review suggested. I also used parchment paper instead of greasing. to me they’re kind of like a big soft cookie or reminds me of blonde brownies. the real test will be the grandkids LOL!
These were so yummy, it is best paired with a glass of milk. I didn’t put as much salt as the recipe called for, I only put in 1/4 tsp and they turned out amazing. My family really enjoyed them! Will definitely make them again!!
These were very very sweet. I made them with white chocolate chips. Consistency was moist and crumbly rather than chewy which I would have preferred Don’t give them to children before bed!

These are alright. They smelled wonderful. But I’ve made better before. I’ll stick with another recipe this wasn’t exactly what I was looking to do. But my kids liked them a lot.
I added chocolate peanut butter chips and cut them into heart shaped bars. These were really tasty. So hard to stop eating them!
Absolutely outstanding! The peanut butter flavor isn’t over-powering and the consistency is just perfect. Even without adding the butter, these came out great. For a twist, I added caramels (homemade) to a batch and dropped dollops of the dough around them and, voila, instant disappearing cookies. Maybe next time I will add mini marshmallows to the mix. Thanks for the great recipe!
This was an easy and delicious dessert!
Very easy to make. It’s the new favorite at my house!
EASY FAST SUTTLE. I really like these . I didn’t at first, I thought they were plain. However, they have a spot on the Christmas square platter. They aren’t really sweet. Also good with a cup of coffee. Well worth a remake. I followed recipe but did cook an extra 10 minutes at least, and I think it needs it. I used parchment paper to bake and pizza cutter to slice when still just slightly warm.
These were easy and tasty. I baked for 20 minutes and the toothpick inserted in several places came out clean, but after cooling the consistency was like partially baked cookie dough. Which isn’t necessarily bad, just something to know.
