It’s my grandmother’s straightforward recipe. Only peaches and cobbler are served in Pennsylvania; excessive spice use is prohibited.

The recipe should be called fancy cheese, not potatoes. I followed the recipe as posted (as always) – I can’t taste any potatoes. I recommend editing the recipe lowering cream cheese and sour cream concentration.
Definitely only 8 oz cream cheese. Also, “5 large” potatoes is way too vague. What is a large potato? I found a similar recipe. 4 lbs of potatoes and only 8ox cream cheese with the cup of sour cream. I also mixed cheese along with sautéed onions and fresh garlic. Finally sprinkled cheese on on top.
Amazing! so delicious! my hubby absolutely loves this dish. One package of cream cheese is plenty!!
Next time, I’d add either real garlic or more than a pinch. It’s also very thick before baking and I was toying with adding milk or butter. It loosens up some when cooking, but I’d still add something. As for taste, I’d add anything on hand like green onions, bacon, peppers. I’d also brown it under the broiler for a bit. It could definitely use salt and pepper.
Pretty solid dish, tasty and easy to make!
I did not make changes, it was wonderful, and I will make it again.
Family and I loved this!!! Kids asked for seconds and it was even a big hit with my toddler. Only put in 3/4 of a 250gr tub of cream cheese and it was plenty. Can’t wait to make again. Strongly recommend
This is the best mashed potato recipe I’ve ever had. It is really creamy. I followed the advice of some of the reviewers and used one package of cream cheese instead of 2. I also mixed in the cheddar and sprinkled just a bit on top. I will definitely make this again…many many times.
FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIOS EXACTLY EASY TO MAKE. ADDED A LITTE EXTRA CHEESESINCE MY FAMILY ARE CHEESE LOVERS. A HUGE SUCCESS SERVED WITH AM. MINIMAL MESS. JUST MY STYLE. OH, FORGOT TO MENTION I SRAYED MY PAN WITH PAM FOR EASY CLEANUP, FIRST.
Was very good after adding 2 bunch of green onions and omitting 1 8oz brick of cream cheese. Will make again. May add some cooked bacon.
Loved this!! Big hit!!
I only had 1 block of cream cheese so hoped it would taste just as good and it was!! A hit by two picky teen boys. Will definitely make this again!! Oh I did add 1 tablespoon of milk to help it blend in blender.
I really enjoyed these potatoes. I used 3 garlic cloves instead of 1. Next time I wouldn’t use as much cheese. Yes, I will make these again, soon
Very easy to make. The flavor so come together well. The family wished I had added bacon…maybe next time!
This would look much better served in potatoe skins and would make it easier to serve but overall i loved this one only thing was that id add some parsley or dill in the mixture to gove it a kick
Very good potatoe side dish recipe! I followed the directions with these minor additions… I used red skins, keeping skin on and boiled them in garlic infused water. (add minced garlic to water) I too followed others advise and cut cream cheese in half and I used shredded cheese mixed with panko bread crumbs for topping to give some crunch. Thank You for this recipe!
Really good potatoes creamy, cheesy and delicious. Thanks for the recipe
This is a nice way to change up potatoes, I changed it up a bit, I added some Gorgonzola cheese to it and I added some onion powder and green onions and some fresh garlic..then baked it. My hubbie loved it. I have made it twice…
way too much cream cheese for my taste.
Love it! It was easy to make. I changed the recipe a little: I used one package of cream cheese instead of two; I added butter, salt, and pepper because I was afraid it would turn out bland. In the end, it turned out great!
