No-Sugar Three Bean Salad

Look no further if you’re seeking for a recipe to create ice cream without an ice cream maker. Raspberries and strawberries are used to make this mouthwatering mascarpone ice cream. I enjoy adding more berries and vanilla sauce when serving it. Of course, you can also use other berries.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Additional Time: 2 hrs
Total Time: 2 hrs 15 mins
Servings: 8
Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained and rinsed
  2. 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  3. 1 (15 ounce) can green beans, drained and rinsed
  4. 4 green onions, chopped
  5. 1 stalk celery, sliced
  6. ½ cup cider vinegar
  7. ¼ cup vegetable oil
  8. 1 tablespoon honey
  9. ½ teaspoon ground dry mustard
  10. ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  11. ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  12. ¼ teaspoon onion powder (Optional)

  1. In a bowl, gently mix the garbanzo beans, kidney beans, green beans, green onions, and celery. I made this as directed except for omitting the celery. It’s not sweet enough for my taste, but that can be easily fixed by adding additional no sugar sweetener of preference.

Too much vinegar taste, not enough sweetness. No one in my family liked it.
Teresa Wilkins
lots of flavor and a lot less sugar.

Used store bought Italian dressing and w/ out sweetener. Yum! Can use dressing with any pasta for potlucks and just add any veg or diced leftover meat for a cold side.

This is the best recipe for 3-Bean Salad I’ve ever made. I love it.

I followed the recipe but I didn’t add the optional cayenne pepper. I let it marinate overnight in the fridge but it still didn’t taste good at all to me. There was really no taste besides the vinegar. I think there’s too much vinegar and not enough sweetener. I added more honey but that didn’t help so I finally added some white sugar and that improved it enough that I can eat it now.

I added cans of beet andcorn, because I didn’t have green beans. Yummy.

I used fresh green beans from my garden, 3/4 of a can of garbanzo beans and 3/4 of a can of dark red kidney beans…I wanted the green beans to be predominate. This was very good as I allowed it to marinate for over 24 hours before trying it. I plan to make it again.

I actually have hated all the three bean salads that I’ve eaten in my life. I made this one because there was a community potluck coming up and I had tons of green beans from the garden and it was cheap lol. It was good! I didn’t have garlic powder so I minced one clove of garlic as I didn’t have garlic power, and used olive oil instead of vegetable oil. I think I would like it better with black beans, as the kidney beans were what I didn’t like in the past. But it was good with this dressing. Poured excess out after marinating and before serving.

This was so good! I made it for our family 4th of July get-together. It was a big hit! Thanks for a great recipe!

Made as written. Loved it!

No salt added in recipe. I found it sadly lacking, added close to a tsp. of salt. Did I miss it in the ingredient list? It’s sitting in fridge again after adding salt. Hope it tastes better in an hour or two

This is a much better recipe than some I have seen that use almost a cup of sugar. I use sugar sub for health reasons but 1 tablespoon of honey is perfectly acceptable to me. Rather than using onion powder, I would rather use diced blanched or marinated fresh onion. Onions are one of the best part of the salad for me.

This is a super tasty and easy side dish. One substitution I made was fresh green beans. I cut them up and boiled for about a minute and half then an ice bath. It gave the salad added crunch and I prefer fresh over canned. I may also try subbing out chickpeas for something else since my hubby isn’t a huge fan. The dressing was his favorite part. Light and tangy. Great make ahead dish or perfect for barbeques.

It’s very rare that I give negative reviews…I’m usually pretty sure about what my family would like. I just found this was very bland.

I’ve made this recipe a number of times and put my own twist on it. Its incredible and i just spent 20 minutes trying to find this exact recipe again.

I made this following Burgundy’s recommendations and it was great! Definitely no onion powder is the way to go.

This was a very nice bean salad. I chose to use red onions instead of green and olive oil instead of vegetable. next time I am cutting the cyan pepper back a bit
