Cheese and onion are layered on top of cooked tomatoes. This quick side dish is excellent and can be made with either bread crumbs or potato chips.

Prep Time: 20 mins
Additional Time: 2 hrs
Total Time: 2 hrs 20 mins
Servings: 12
Yield: 1 9×13-inch pan

Ingredients

  1. 2 pints fresh strawberries
  2. 2 ½ cups whole milk
  3. 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  4. 1 (5.1 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  5. 1 (8 ounce) container whipped topping (such as Cool Whip®)
  6. 1 (12 ounce) package vanilla wafer cookies (such as Nilla®)

Instructions

  1. Hull strawberries and slice in 1/4-inch thick slices, about 3 slices per strawberry.
  2. Mix whole milk, condensed milk, and pudding mix together in a bowl; condensed milk will sink to the bottom, so mix well. Fold in whipped topping without mixing too much.
  3. Layer a 9×13-inch baking pan with 1/2 of the wafer cookies, followed by 1/2 of the strawberries. Pour in 1/2 of the pudding mixture over top. Repeat with a second layer of wafers, strawberries, and pudding.
  4. Refrigerate to let dessert firm up before serving, 2 to 3 hours.

This is hands down the BEST strawberry pudding recipe out there. I’ve made this the past 2 July 4th family gatherings. I left with an empty dish, everyone loved it. I’m making it again this year. ***I make mine the night before & I’ve made 1 change to the recipe. Name brand vanilla wafers turned out to be almost like mush the first go around. So last year I used off brand vanilla wafers that come in a clear bag, and also added in some name brand in as well. The off brand holds up better and has the consistency of a soft cookie. So by using those and adding in extra name brand cookies…it turned out like perfection.

This was so easy to make I was shocked it came out so good. My daughter in law wants me to make some this weekend

Made it as is for a Valentine Day Dessert. Everyone raved about it.

1.6.22 Followed the recipe to the letter, and this turned out pretty well. The only thing that I would do differently would be to coarsely break up the vanilla wafers. There’s not enough liquid in this to soften the cookies, and I’d rather bite into pieces rather than one whole cookie (could just be personal taste, too). Thanks for sharing Walt Draw.
