We used this to marinate boneless, skinless chicken thighs for grilled chicken burgers. They were delicious! We marinated them for about 4 1/2 hours. My husband kept saying, ” That is a really good marinade. You need to save that recipe!” Saved to favorites.
This is a simple tasty marinade. You don’t need to leave your meat in it for hours. I poured some of the marinade into the pan I was cooking the chicken in then added my veggies. Turned out to be a great meal.
Oh, my, I don’t know what’s wrong with my palate, but I thought this was awful. The ginger overpowered any other flavor. Clearly I am in the minority, so you may want to try this out. Just taste it before you put it on your meat.
This was good! I marinaded beef and chicken in 2 different containers and both came out really good. The chicken in particular was particularly tender from sitting in the marinade. If you are looking for a non-Asian marinade, this is a good contender.
Have made twice now & enjoy it. Added some sesame oil & sriracha. Will probably cut back on the amount of oil.
Holy smokes, this is one amazing marinade!! When we were grilling this outside (after marinating), our neighbor across the street came over to ask what smelled so wonderful. He then asked if he could have a copy of the recipe! The combination of garlic and ginger in this recipe truly sets it apart from other marinades. It makes your grilled beef or chicken taste and smell like it came from a steakhouse. Not sure why this recipe doesn’t have 1,000 5 star reviews. We love it!!
my new fave added a dash of lemon
I made this as written, marinated it 4 hours with chicken thighs, and finished on the grill. Yum, Yum, Yum! 5 stars!
Excellent. My favourite go-to marinade.
Always have success with this recipe. The meat is flavorful and makes it more tender. It’s been a favorite for years in the family. The ingredients are easily available. A;ways can be counted on for rave reviews .
I’ve made this several times with chicken breasts. I’ve found that even after a couple hours, the meat absorbs the flavor. I did substitute coconut aminos for today the soy sauce, as my husband is allergic to soy. I cut way back on the pepper too. It’s delicious! Thanks for the lovely recipe.
Fabulous. I, like some others, used minced garlic instead of powdered, and instead of honey I used brown sugar and (real) maple syrup. I marinated for about 8 hours on beef Chuck and made skewers. I poured remaining marinade on finished skewers…Outstanding. Whole family loved it, will do again, thanks for the recipe.
The marinade was delicious however I’m giving it four stars is because it was slightly too sweet.
Not too bad for a simple marinade. Used it on chicken. It’s a little strong on the soy sauce side for me. I added a little bit of herbs to it as well. Marinaded the chicken for 2 days, and at some point between day 1 and 2, the marinade started separating.
I made this as written, marinated for 6 hrs and used it on beef. I found it rather bland and thin. The only thing I tasted was a small amount of sweetness. Maybe I’ll try this with chicken and see how it ‘ll come out. THAnks for sharing the recipe.
Excellent marinade. I used a vacuum box to speed up the process on chicken, onion and red pepper kebabs. I just wonder how long the used marinade will keeb in an air tight jar.
Excellent marinade that truly works with most meats. I’ve used it with chicken breast, pork chops, and flank steak so far. I worried that the ginger would make it taste like an Asian dish, but it didn’t. The flavors all blend together beautifully. I usually double the recipe and keep it on hand in the fridge by storing it in a mason jar. I don’t know how long it’ll stay good, we typically use it within a week or so. It never fails that there are critical reviews that aren’t even reviewing this recipe. One of my favorites is the one that changes just about everything before it says to feel free to add your own spices to the marinade. It’s very easy to submit your own recipe to this site. Next time you create something new, submit it as a separate recipe. Let’s leave the review section for reviews of the actual posted recipe. Sorry for the rant, it’s just frustrating when you search for a recipe and have to weed through the reviews to see what is actually being reviewed.
Definitely a keeper. The only Change I made was I used 3 fresh squeezed oranges in the marinade. Marinated for 4 hours which was perfect. Grilled on the grill and it has such great flavor and so much. Will definitely try with others meats and will be my go to marinade.
Followed recipe as outlined. Excellent flavour. Will make again.
Very good marinade and easy to make! I changed nothing.
Good
