Ingredients
- 2 (16 ounce) cans peaches in heavy syrup
- 1 (15.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
- ½ cup butter
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Empty peaches into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover peaches with dry cake mix and press down firmly. Cut butter into small pieces and scatter on top of cake mix. Sprinkle top with cinnamon.
- Bake in the preheated oven until top of cake is golden brown, about 45 minutes.

Do I coat the pan with butter 1st?
I didn’t specifically follow this recipe per se because this is something my ex mother-in-law taught me…but I can never remember how long to cook it for. So I did a Google search just to see if I could come up with a recipe similar and this was the first one that came up. I was looking through the reviews just out of curiosity and I noticed some of you comment about it being too liquidy, but I was taught to sprinkle tapioca on top of the peaches before the cake mix. I feel it’s a huge difference in the recipe being too liquidy or being a perfect consistency. Just wanted to add my thoughts
Super easy and definitely worth trying … had to improvise because I only had 1 can of peaches in natural juice. Separated the peaches and added some cinnamom (1/2 tsp), nutmeg (1/8 tsp), brown sugar (1/4 cup) mixed and added to a buttered pan and added the peaches, about 1/2 cake mix topped with a stick of butter and sprinkled brown sugar… baked at 350 for 45 minutes and it is delicious!!!! Will try again with the peaches in heavy syrup
It took about 60 minutes to cook (was still too runny at 45). I actually halved it and baked it at 180 C in the air fryer with the melted butter suggestion. I don’t even like peaches, and this was EXCELLENT.

So good, cheap and easy!! I only had peaches in a 15.4 ounce cans and had quite a bit of room left in the cake pan so I added a can of cherry pie mix and a crumble or crisp? On top. I also added vanilla in with the peaches before the cake mix and a little sugar on top and it was absolutely sinful!! I little bit of homemade ice cream and I was the real of the picnic!! I also shaved the butter on top before the crumble so it dispersed more evenly. I forgot to take an after picture as I was leaving for the picnic and in a hurry. Everyone wanted the recipe and seconds!!
I make this with canned apple pie filling. I cut the butter into the cake mix and then sprinkle it on top. That way the butter is more evenly distributed.
Made this so many times, way much easier than making a peach cobbler from scratch. I’m teaching my 13 yo granddaughter how to make it, because she loves when I do it. I omit the cinnamon bc it’s sweet enough and I use melted butter (2 sticks).
This is beyond incredible and easy to make. I don’t call this a cake at all, this is a cobbler and beyond any cobbler I have ever eaten. I would have given it 10 stars if allowed. This recipe is better than moms, grandmas and any restaurant cobbler I have ever eaten. I’m tryin it with apples next.
My favorite so far. I followed the recipe but added mini pie crust and cinnamon sugar on top of the pie crust. Delectable. I used French toast cake mix and added chopped toasted pecans.

I made this with frozen nectarines from our tree and added some blueberries. It was amazing and so easy. It isn’t a traditional “cake” so don’t expect that. It is more of a cobbler. I think it is called a cake because of the cake mix. The second time I made it I added some chopped almonds and about a half cup of oatmeal (under the butter) and I added a chopped apple to the filling with the other fruit. It came out yummy.
I’ve found the easiest way to incorporate the butter is to pop the butter cubes into the freezer while you’re dumping in the peaches and spreading the cake mix. Unwrap the cube of the butter and using a box grater grate over the dry cake mix, results in a very even distribution, no melting required. I use frozen peaches with a mixture of crushed pecans, cinnamon, brown and white sugar sprinkled over the top of the peaches, finally a sprinkle of cinnamon over the grated butter then into the oven for 60-70 minutes.
Came out great! I used 1bag of frozen strawberries in 1 end of pan and 1 bag of frozen peaches in 1 end…..tasted great! Other than that followed the recipe , everyone loved it!

This recipe is actually on point. I made the cake mix from scratch, and added vanilla flavoring to it. I sprinkled it on top and mashed it throughout the mix. I also used soft butter instead of melted or chunks,. I stirred the butter in or mashed it through. If you put lots of baking powder or baking soda in the mix that’s what it will taste like. I give this a total thumbs up if you follow directions. Leave it in the oven exactly 45 minutes.
Cooked in 9 x 9 pan. Added chopped pecans and shredded coconut. Yumm!
